Undefeated He's Watching tops Rooney field

YONKERS, N.Y. (AP) — Undefeated He's Watching leads 11 3-year-old colts and geldings in the 23rd Art Rooney Pace's two elimination races Saturday night.

The horse that was purchased for $3,000 has already earned $291,722 in winning all eight of his races. This will be his 2014 debut and he was a 3-5 favorite for the first $40,000 elimination. Jim Morrill Jr. will be in the sulky.

He's Watching has won all three of his starts at Yonkers.

The total purse of this year's race is $380,000, with the pair of $40,000 elimination races — the first four finishers in each race qualify for the final — leading to the guaranteed $300,000 finale on May 31.

All Bets Off was the 4-5 choice in the second elimination.
