Barkley on Fenway incident: I would've put an end to it

Orioles outfielder Adam Jones was at the center of an ugly incident in Boston on Monday when he was subjected to racial slurs. The incident prompted an apology from the Red Sox and the city.

TNT analyst and Hall of Famer Charles Barkley is set to host a new show, American Race, which addresses issues of race in America. On Wednesday, a TMZ photographer asked Barkley how he would have handled a similar situation to that in Boston.

Barkley said:

"I'm disappointed in the fans who was around those people saying those things. If I was in a crowd of people and they were mistreating anybody, I would stand up for the person who was being mistreated. I would never, let's just say hypothetically, if was with a group of black people, which I am black, if they were mistreating a white person, a Jewish person or a hispanic person, I would've put an end to that (expletive)."

In his first at-bat after the incident, Jones was greeted to a standing ovation at Fenway Park.

Barkley's show on race in America previews on May 7 with an official premiere on May 11.
