Florida man charged with kidnapping, raping DoorDash driver who was making a delivery, police say

A Florida man is facing felony sexual assault and kidnapping charges after police say he abducted and raped a DoorDash driver and assaulted another woman.

Joseph Killins, 38, was arrested on Friday in connection to the attacks which took place over less than a 48-hour period, Tampa Police said.

According to a department news release, just after 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, Killins forced a woman in her early 20s, back into her car as she was making a DoorDash delivery in the city.

Killins forced the victim at gunpoint to drive to the Belara Lakes Apartments, where, according to police, he sexually assaulted her. The victim's family, who had been tracking her phone, arrived and rescued her from the car.

Killins fired multiple gunshots, with one shot striking a family member of the victim’s girlfriend, a woman who is also in her 20s, police said. He then fled the scene.

Armed robbery investigation led to arrest

The following day, a robbery took place in same apartment complex.

The suspect, later identified as Killins, threw a victim, a woman in her early 40’s, to the ground before punching her and stealing her backpack, police said. He was then seen running off.

The robbery investigation led detectives to a motel near Busch Gardens where they arrested Killins Friday night, police said.
