Powerball drawing Saturday night has $400 million jackpot, as game celebrates 30th year

A $400 million Powerball jackpot could be claimed on Saturday night as the game wraps up its anniversary week. 

It was 30 years ago on April 22, 1992 that the first Powerball drawing was held, according to the Powerball website.

The jackpot for the Saturday, April 23 drawing has reached an estimated $400 million, with a cash option of $240.8 million.

Saturday's drawing will be held at 10:59 p.m. ET and is streamed live on Powerball.com.

The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. 

The most recent winner of a Powerball jackpot came in Connecticut on Feb. 14 with a prize of $185.3 million.

Even though no one hit the jackpot in the April 20 drawing, one ticket in New Jersey matched all five white balls and included the Power Play option (that costs $1 more per ticket), which doubled the winnings to $2 million.

Since the Feb. 14 winner, there have been 28 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner. In the only jackpot won this year, two winning tickets, sold in California and Wisconsin, split a $632.6 million jackpot in the January 5 drawing. That jackpot ranked as the 7th largest Powerball jackpot ever.
