David Boone is finishing his sophomore year at Harvard. He grew up in a gang-ridden neighborhood and was homeless at times.

Cleveland, Ohio -- Many children face obstacles that seem insurmountable. David Boone had every right to feel that way when he was growing up, but he never gave up.

"I may have been homeless, but I worked really hard, got good grades, and that's why I am at Harvard," Boone said to WKYC.

He just finished his sophomore year at Harvard with A's and B's -- and is on his way to Seattle for an internship at Microsoft.

"I don't want to be known as 'the poor kid who got into Harvard,' I want to be 'the Harvard student who got out,' " says Boone.

David has his own website and plans to use it to get his story of hope out to other urban students struggling to believe in themselves.

David also appears in a new documentary, Ivory Tower. It details the college debt crisis and whether you are getting your money's worth in higher education.
