Characters Talisa Maegyr (Oona Chaplin) and Robb Stark (Richard Madden) don't have happy endings on "Game of Thrones."

Can we talk about last night's Game of Thrones?!

If you've had any sort of social media engagement this morning, you know that something big happened on the hit HBO show Sunday. And if you're like comedian Whitney Cummings, you want to get involved in the Twitter discussion ... even if you don't watch the show.

SPOILER ALERT: A lot of people died on the Game of Thrones "Red Wedding" episode, as fans of the book call it. It was gory. As U.S. News & World Report says, it was "one of the most graphic scenes in television history."

What happened? The Stark clan fast became a scarce breed, as Rolling Stone put it. Among the slaughtered: King of the North Robb Stark (Richard Madden), his pregnant bride Talisa (Oona Chaplin) and matriarch Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley), not to mention Robb's army.

The massacre was especially heartbreaking, because Catelyn had to watch her son die before she got her own throat cut, and pregnant Talisa was stabbed multiple times in the stomach. The episode (which keeps many plot points from the Game of Thrones books) was "the hardest scene" for author George R.R. Martin to write, he told EW. And it was a hard scene for the actors to walk away from.

Madden told AccessHollywood.com in a conference call that after shooting the episode in which his character, Robb Stark, was killed, he "cried the whole way" to London. He was "the crazy boy on the plane," he said.

Many fans of the show also had emotional reactions to the episode, like these celebrities who took to Twitter to share their feelings:

R&B artist Frank Ocean: "smh (shaking my head) red wedding was too hectic"

American Pie actor Jason Biggs: "OMG #GoT WTF"

Musician Ed Sheeran: "i dont know what just happened in game of thrones. i'm in shock."

Broadway and TV star Josh Gad: "Tonight's Game of Thrones was the most upsetting hour of TV I've ever seen."

Singer Joe Jonas: "This is how I feel about the game of thrones episode just now.... What. Just. Happened." (He tweeted out a picture of a sad Jon Snow.)
