Now that everyone's in a tizzy over the trailer for Adam Sandler's '80s game-inspired Pixels, it's time to get a real blast from the past and watch the short film that started it all.

The two-minute short, also titled Pixels, was released in April 2010, when it went  viral and apparently caught the eye of Sandler and Happy Madison Productions.

Produced by OneMoreProduction and directed by Patrick Jean, the short depicts a New York attacked not by aliens, but by actual video-game characters escaped from an abandoned TV. Donkey Kong, the Space Invaders and even Pac Man make an appearance, demolishing New York City and turning it into a pixel wonderland. The best part of the video (other than the fact that it's completely Sandler-less) is the Tetris blocks falling onto the buildings, which we've yet to see in the movie. Fingers crossed.
