Video: This restored 1954 Buick scares small cars

When the Rev. Doug Cook takes a spin in his 1954 Buick Super hardtop, it sure catches the attention anyone driving one of today's small cars.

"Hondas run away from me," Cook explained one sunny morning recently at a car show in Irvine, Calif., as we sought him out for our "Tell Us About Your Car" video series.

Cook, a Catholic priest, has a thing for vintage Buicks. He drove one in high school and has stayed with them ever since. The one he was showing off was tracked down in Texas four years ago. It originally had a dark roof, now painted white. And there is always more work to be done, like tweaking the air conditioning and power seats.

What's not to love? The big ol' Buick has its impressive V-8, lots of chrome and a" really loud horn." We didn't hear its signature honk, but we'll Cook at his word. He is, after all, active in the Buick Club of America.

As for finding parts, "they're out there," Cook explains. "But you've got to look."
