Hey, I wanna talk about how we do fandom! I've come to realize that I, personally, tend to differ from many others in that I highly prefer to only engage with a text as it's written, so I don't tend to really like fanon/extremely ooc characterizations and I find it hard to get invested in ships that aren't canon. My way of doing fandom isn't better or worse than anyone else's, but I am curious about how much of a minority I'm in! So:

*We've all seen ships of characters not from the same media and stuff like shipping the concept of ennui with the color blue, okay, I'm asking what you, personally, find compelling!

I’m a mix of option 3 and option 8. I think when it’s from the same piece of media, I prefer to see the ‘believable connection’ and take from the source, BUT I also will ship characters that don’t appear at all together on screen because I personally like the potential of that dynamic.

I used to make manip/crossover content on YouTube as a teen, where I’d ship two characters that weren’t even in the same franchise and make edits of them. It was SO fun. That was a time of fandom in 2012-2015 that was literally so accepting of ANYTHING (obviously within reason). I mean… literally I could take Clara Oswald and ship her with Loki and no one batted a damn eye.

Everyone is entitled to their own preferences, obviously, but like… don’t shit on someone else’s fun. I barely engage in shipping content anymore because A: I think I kinda out grew it in a sense and B: because it’s suddenly become something that is weaponised and causes terrible ‘us vs them’ mentalities.
