For most people, re-wearing an outfit is a pretty standard part of life. But when a member of the Queen's family does it, royal fans take notice. "Any time a royal re-wears something, there’s usually a reason," Christine Ross, the editor of Meghan's Mirror, previously told Town & Country. "They want to redirect the conversation, and it shifts that conversation from fashion to substance."

Since marrying Prince Harry in May of 2018, the Duchess of Sussex has slowly been building up a working wardrobe, and hasn't repeated too many looks at official engagements. That is, until her visit to South Africa in September 2019, when she made a habit of showing up to events in ensembles she had previously worn. It was clear that her intention was to keep the focus on the causes she hoping to champion.

"Every normal person wears their clothing more than once, but these are people who have access to any designer and any style on the planet," journalist and royals commentator Elizabeth Holmes says. "When they choose to re-wear something, it's significant."

With that in mind, here are Meghan's best repeated outfits.

Outerwear can make all the difference in an outfit. When Meghan first sported this bold purple dress from Aritzia in January of 2018, she wore in under a bright red coat. More recently in October 2019, she opted to let the dress speak for itself, pairing it with minimal accessories and navy blue heels.

Meghan made recycling outfits a priority while on her official visit to Cape Town in September of 2019. For her second official engagement in the country, she stepped out in an eye-catching cornflower blue dress, which royal fans immediately recognized as the same Veronica Beard style from her visit to Tonga last year.

Sometimes Meghan's rewears help to make unspoken connections between two different appearances For example, on the final day of the royal tour of South Africa, she wore a blush-colored House of Nonie trench dress to meet with Nelson Mandela's widow, humanitarian Graça Machel. She had worn that same dress to a Mandela memorial event in London back in 2018.

While on the royal tour of Australia last fall, Meghan chose a somber look for her visit to the Anzac Memorial in Sydney. She paired a black dress with a bespoke fascinator by Philip Treacy, which was also seen atop her head at Charlie van Straubenzee's wedding in August 2018.
