Knowing how to watch "Yellowstone" online can be tricky. Everyone from red-blooded Americans to fans of Westerns and more wants to check out this popular show.

However, it's been nearly two years since we last saw new episodes of the Taylor Sheridan drama. The good news is we won't be waiting much longer, as "Yellowstone" season 5 is returning on November 10. The bad news is it's going to be tough to find on TV and online until then.

While some reruns had previously aired on CBS, that's stopped for now. Meanwhile, new episodes of the show will arrive on the Paramount Network once those start again this fall.

Keep in mind that Paramount Network is not Paramount Plus, Paramount's streaming service. Instead, it's a cable network you'll need a cable alternative to access if you've cut the cord.

As for old episodes? Well, surprisingly, they're not on Paramount Plus either. Instead, they live on a different streaming service. Here's everything you need to know about how to watch "Yellowstone" online for free and without cable.

What is "Yellowstone"?

In "Yellowstone", Kevin Costner plays John Dutton, head of the Dutton family, which has owned the Dutton Ranch for six generations. The ranch is located near Yellowstone National Park and Native American reservations.

John oversees the ranch alongside his son, Kayce Dutton (Lucas Grimes), a former Navy SEAL. Kayce is married to a Native American woman, Monica (Kelsey Asbille Chow), and they have a young boy named Tate. John's adoptive son, Jamie (Wes Bentley) is an attorney and aspiring politician.

Then there's John's daughter, Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly), a financier who has struggled with substance abuse problems. She married the ranch foreman, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser).

The Duttons are continually fighting to maintain control over the ranch. They deal with thorny political machinations, battle greedy land developers and manage tensions with the local indigenous tribes.

In a twist, Costner won't be returning for the final episodes of the show or for any future spinoffs. He said in an interview with Extra, "It was just time to move on and as gracefully as you can with something that's been very important to you."

If you've already watched the entire series to date and want more, there's good news. The show's ratings success led to a Paramount Plus spinoff, "1883" that tells the origin story of the Dutton family. Another "Yellowstone" prequel, "1923", is also available to stream on Paramount Plus and several more spinoffs are in the works.
