Team USA won its first gold medal of the Paris Olympics with the men's 4x100-meter freestyle relay, anchored by Caeleb Dressel.
With the win, Dressel continues his streak of perfection. The 27-year-old swimmer now has eight medals, all of which are gold.
Dressel pulled away from the pack during the last leg of the relay, finishing just over 1 second before second and third-place finishers, Australia and Italy.
Jack Alexy, Chris Guiliano and Hunter Armstrong rounded out Team USA's gold medal-winning relay team, finishing with a time of 3:09.28.
Team USA has won gold in the men's 4x100-meter freestyle relay for the past three Olympic Games.
The world record of 03:08.24 is also held by Team USA, from Michael Phelps, Garrett Weber-Gale, Cullen Jones and Jason Lezak's performance at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Dressel is set to compete in two more events in Paris: the 50-meter freestyle and the 100-meter butterfly.
After Saturday's race, the swimmer was photographed celebrating with his wife, Meghan, and their baby, adorably wearing bright blue headphones in the crowded La Defense Arena.
Before the men's relay, Katie Ledecky brought home a bronze medal in the women's 400-meter freestyle race, falling short again to Australia's Ariarne Titmus, as well as Canada's Summer McIntosh.
Team USA won its first medal — both in and out of the water — when synchronized diving duo Kassidy Cook and Sarah Bacon won silver.
