Usually it's a no-brainer that King Charles III would be in attendance at the annual Trooping the Colour celebration in London, but the British monarch has been undergoing treatment for cancer for much of this year.

So with the king's ongoing treatment, many have asked if Charles will still participate in this year's festivities celebrating his birthday.

Yes, Charles will be in attendance at the Trooping the Colour celebration event on June 15, Buckingham Palace confirmed to NBC News on May 30.

The British monarch's appearance comes a week after he also took part in the Colonel’s Review on June 8, which serves as a dress rehearsal for the bigger parade on June 15.

The king said he was also grateful for the presence of Catherine, Princess of Wales, who confirmed in a statement on June 14 that she will be in attendance.

"His Majesty is delighted that The Princess is able to attend tomorrow’s events, and is much looking forward to all elements of the day," a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said on June 14.

The former Kate Middleton had previously stepped back from public duties since announcing in March that she is undergoing treatment for an unspecified form of cancer.

Charles was seen at the Colonel's Review presenting the Irish Guards with a new flag, which they will fly as they lead the military parade through London during Trooping the Colour on Saturday.

The monarch celebrated his first Trooping the Colour as king last year while riding on horseback to inspect soldiers as part of the proceedings. The celebration came just over a month after Charles was officially coronated as Britain's newest monarch.

He became the first monarch to revive the tradition of riding on horseback at Trooping the Colour since 1986, when his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, gave it up after turning 60.

This year Charles is expected to conduct his review of the troops while seated in a carriage alongside his wife, Queen Camilla, as he continues his recovery from cancer treatment, Buckingham Palace announced.

The Trooping the Colour event on June 15 is also known as the King's Birthday Parade, a display of pageantry that includes more than 1,400 British officers and soldiers, 200 horses and more than 400 musicians, according to the royal family website.

The event is televised on the BBC and open to the public, which lines the route from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guard's Parade in Whitehall. Members of the royal family take part in a procession in carriages and on horseback, per the royal family.

In the finale on June 15, Charles will be joined by other members of the royal family on the balcony at Buckingham Palace to watch a Royal Air Force fly-by. The balcony moment is where Charles' grandson, Prince Louis, 6, once again stole the show with his antics last year.

Trooping the Colour comes four months after Buckingham Palace announced that the king had been diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer. He resumed his public facing duties in May after having previously made a public appearance at Easter Service on March 31 at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

CORRECTION (June 14, 2024,5:08 p.m.): An earlier version of this article misstated that King Charles birthday is June 14. While the Trooping the Colour celebration is the official observance of the monarch's birthday, the king's actual birthday is Nov. 14.
