Martha Stewart is clapping back at social media users who left "harsh" comments about the newly remodeled living room in her Maine home.

"I rarely read all the comments that come in after I post but because I was so happy at the transformation of my Maine living room I did go through many of the comments and was surprised at the harsh judgment so many displayed!!!" Stewart, who turns 83 next month, wrote alongside a photo of the room she posted July 3 on Instagram.

Stewart said she and her "Maine helpers" spent three hours removing old furniture from the room and bringing new furniture into it, noting that they were "pleased" the new pieces "actually fit the room."

Stewart explained that she hadn’t yet finished redecorating the room when she shared photos of it earlier this week.

It "was not a ‘decorator’s’ professional installation. It was an attempt to change quickly and efficiently. Making a house a home, or a room a beautiful livable space takes a lot more than three hours," she wrote.

“Of course there will be color, plants, mirrors, a new rug or two and other art and objects,” she wrote, adding, “Stay tuned!!!!”

Stewart's photo focused on one area of the large room. It showed a sofa, chairs and a settee grouped around a coffee table next to a wall that featured a fireplace and several framed bird images.

Stewart's Maine vacation home, called Skylands, is located in the Seal Harbor area of Mount Desert. Stewart purchased the 12-bedroom home in 1997, according to her official website.

Stewart's post came just one day after she shared an initial batch of images on Instagram that showed the living room's new furniture.

Critics commented to say the room looked “old and stuffy” and “cold and sterile.”

“Doesn’t look homey and inviting. Looks more like a furniture showroom than a home. Sad to see," one wrote.

Stewart captioned the post, "Big day rearranging the furniture in the three main living rooms at Skylands. We switched the living room from grey blue upholstery to a creamy pale buttery yellow."

"The library is much more comfortable now and the faux Bois table is now the card table. I love the rustic yet elegant charm of this lovely 1925 house," she added.

Stewart noted in her post that "all the yellow" upholstery on the new furniture came from a home she previously owned on Lily Pond Lane in the Hamptons area of New York's Long Island.
