If she's a hollerer, she'll be a screamer.
If she's a screamer, she'll get you arrested.

I'm certainly not an expert on D-Day, but I had the good fortune to visit the beaches in Normandy. The American cemetery gave me cold chills. It was humbling and awe inspiring. French Fighters fly by (i think hourly) and circle and tip their wings to honor our soldiers that gave the ultimate sacrifice for their freedom.

90% of the soldiers on the first boats to hit the beach didn't live to see the end of the day. Look at those faces. Some of them never made it to 18. Never voted. Never loved a woman

They paid the ultimate price for your freedom. You live your life the way you do because of them.

not describe what our men and women did during that traumatic experience. Im not going to even try.

Think about the hellhole of Africa, Italy....then the Pacific. No one would believe it if it wasnt true.

Maybe someone else can explain why we did not have a destroyer off the coast shelling that beach into the stone age before we sent the boys onto french soil. Not being sarcastic.

The resistance (Maquis) did not realize that the Germans had moved their frontal forces back just before the invasion. We did bomb the shore with planes but to no avail. The Maquis also failed to notify us about the brocage, the hedgerows that surrounded almost every field. The Germans had their machine guns and tanks intrenched their and pre-sighted on the entrances (where our troops would enter). Many troops were mowed down as a result.

Ambrose's 'Citizen Soldier' is the best account of the ground battle.

Been to Normandy twice.....beyond moving. Several museums, a few covering The Bedford Boys..an amazing story. Hundreds of streets and roads throughout western France are named after dead resistance fighters. The old U-Boat pens at St. Nazaire and L'Orient will blow your mind!

We lived in Europe for three years and traveled to many WW II sites, as well as WW I (Flanders) battle areas.
