ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS IN THE WORLD

Okaye.. Yeaah I did not expect what I got from this book. I thought it was your average vampire tale with a hint of best friend being murdered thing, with a who dunnit? I got so much more. First its not even about vampires. But what you dont expect is the surprise that awaits you. This book kept me guessing til the very end, I almost screamed when finding out the dark secrets that Caspian and Kristen were keeping from Abbey. During Kristens death Abbey starts finding things out about Kristen that you wouldnt believe. And Caspian boy he was the one I was like OH MY GOD!!!! He is so gorgeous. You feel like Abbey, falling in love with him but still wondering whats this secret hes keeping. AND THEN BAMM! You find out and your just as shocked as she is. I suggest this book to anyone who LOVES paranormal romance with a hint with an who dunnit side. I cannot wait for the other two books to complete the Hollow Trilogy. Read this book! You will not be disapointed!!

wonderful

I thought it was an attention grabber I loved a little misterious, exciting, and sweetly romantic I loved it.

Hooked (I need another shot!)

I am quite definitely without a doubt in love. This story had me addicted from the first page, and when I had to put it down to eat or grab a cup of water, the "what's going to happen now" 's were excruciatingly painful. As they say, curiosity killed the cat. Romance, suspense, remorse and regret make this a tantalizing read. Be sure to read it while listening to Metisse's "This is my fault" and check out Jessica's website. This is the first installment of a dangerously addictive series written by an award-worthy author.

Intriguing Story by Jessica Verday!

What an intriguing story! Based on the title, I assumed The Hollow by Jessica Verday was going to have some relationship to Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. It is so much more! First, even though this is marked YA, fantasy and romance readers will also enjoy it, just as I did. The book kept me in suspense from early in the book and when it somewhat abruptly ended--too soon--I was immediately grateful that there was going to be more! Several special points should be highlighted immediately. At the beginning of each chapter, there is a quote by Irving. Additionally, the book is set in the town where the Legend was born and so there is a constant flow of information and discussion about the characters in that book. Additionally, the book itself has been beautifully covered and printed. This is a book you'll want to keep as part of your home library! I'm hoping that this is a first in a series that just could be as popular as that set of books coming out of England, but this one featuring one of America's most memorable legends. The story opens with a sad event--Abbey's best friend, Kristen, has disappeared and is presumed dead. In fact, they decide to proceed with a funeral for Kristen, burying an empty coffin. Abbey refuses to accept her death, and more, she can't figure out why Kristen had been out alone, on the bridge where she apparently fell. Both girls had agreed that they would never go there alone! Abbey and Kristen had been so close that they didn't have many other friends, so it is hard for Abbey to go back to school, especially when some of the students feel she is "playing" her grief to get favor from the teachers. Abbey goes from deep heartache to anger and back to grief constantly so that her parents begin to worry about her. Abbey spends many hours wandering on her own, visiting the graveyard across the street and all the other places she and Kristen had once routinely visited. It was there she met Nikolas, an elderly "grandfather" taking care of Irving's mausoleum and she offered to help him. Later she met this wife Katie in a beautiful little cabin just on the other side of the cemetery from where she lived. She had met Caspian at Kristin's home during the funeral. She had retreated to the basement where she and Kristan had often gone to be alone and there, in the shadows, Caspian spoke to her. Later they met under the bridge and once in the library. They had never gone on a date but Abbey's feelings for him grew deeper. Abby also suddenly got a part-time job with her Uncle Bob, who owned an ice-cream parlor where she could have all of the samples she wanted. With new friends, school, work, and trying to create new perfumes, she was little by little able to move on with her life. Until she found Kristen's diaries and discovered she'd had a secret life she'd never shared with Abbey! This is one of the most beautiful stories I've read. Touches of fantasy, the paranormal, true friendship, and family love are hea

In THE HOLLOW by Jessica Verday, Abbey's world is shattered the day that her best friend, Kristen, disappears at the bridge near Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. The cemetery was one of their favorite places to hang out, and Abbey continues to visit there. She soon meets Caspian and quickly falls in love with him. But their relationship isn't normal. He makes her feel special, but she is never sure of his feelings for her. Just when the world seems to be slowing, getting put back together, she learns that Kristen was keeping secrets from her. Feeling hurt and betrayed, she wonders if this secret could have led to her death. And then she realizes that Caspian is keeping secrets from her, too, and her world once again comes crashing down on her. When I first saw this book, I thought it would take forever for me to read since it was over 500 pages, but I found myself flying through it. I really enjoyed the character of Abbey. I thought she was completely believable and seemed like a real teenager. The writing was very well done. I could feel Abbey's pain of losing her best friend, as well as the joy of falling in love for the first time. And I thought it was neat that her hobby was making perfumes. The only complaint I have about the story would be that it became more about the relationship between Abbey and Caspian, and it left me wanting to know more about how and why Kristen died and if it had anything to do with the secrets she kept. But that's not to say that I didn't enjoy the relationship between Abbey and Caspian, because I did. THE HOLLOW is the first book in a trilogy, and I can't wait to find out what happens between them!
