Man Utd's signing of Leny Yoro will not effect their pursuit of other targets.

The club still maintain an interest in Jarrad Branthwaite and Matthijs de Lift according to David Ornstein.

  • United working on Yoro deal

Manchester United want their deal with Leny Yoro done as soon as possible to avoid any chance of the deal being hijacked according to Fabrizio Romano.

Fans have said that Harry Maguire "should still be Man Utd captain" after they spotted his gesture at Carrington.

The defender made sure to shake hands with every single academy player he was training with at the training ground.

  • Spurs favourites for Ivan

Tottenham have emerged as the favourites to sign Ivan Toney – if England’s Euro 2024 fringe striker leaves Brentford this summer.

Manchester United are tipped to back off after landing Joshua Zirkzee as competition for Rasmus Hojlund.

And Arsenal’s reported interest is all said to have ebbed.

The Gunners could well focus, transfer wise, on another midfielder.

Instead, spurs’ need could be greatest as they weigh up an offer for the $60million-rated star.

  • Ten Hag wants bigger squad

Erik ten Hag claims he needs more strength in his squad as he continues to push for summer signings, writes NEIL CUSTIS.

Manchester United’s new sporting director Dan Ashworth is closing in on a deal for superkid Leny Yoro from Lille.

The club have had a bid of £42million, rising to £52m, accepted for the 18-year-old centre-back — who is also a Real Madrid target.

United have taken a major step forward and are now negotiating a wage packet to entice the Frenchman to Old Trafford.

Club chiefs are also in talks to snap up Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt for £42m from German giants Bayern Munich.

Yet at this stage it is likely they would only go through with one of these deals.

Ten Hag landed his first big signing of the summer with the £36m capture of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, 23.

  • Ex-United defender backs Potter for England

Graham Potter and Eddie Howe are rightly regarded as early favourites to succeed Gareth Southgate as England boss.

So reckons Paul Parker after Southgate’s resignation yesterday – but the ex-Three Lions’ defender also believes only one of them might be ready.

The former Manchester United star told mybettingsites.co.uk: “Graham Potter fits the profile in my opinion.

“The way he is as a person and the way he manages teams, everything suggests to him.

“Eddie Howe? Does he really need that? Does he really want that? Does he want to win something as a manager at Newcastle before he goes and takes the England job?

“Because if he goes and wins a trophy at Newcastle, then that might be the time to walk away from Newcastle.”

“And to be fair, if you want to do it and that’s a great way of doing it and that’s backing yourself. It’s then easier to walk away from a club like Newcastle. “

  • Matt won't be taking the hijs with his wages

Nethertlands' Euro 2024 ace Matthijs de Ligt might arrive at Manchester United as only a mid-range earner.

The Bayern Munich central defender is said to have accepted a five-year deal at Old Trafford worth around £170,000 a week.

It’s reckoned the £42million fee could be paid in instalments - if the move goes ahead.

But if the wage packet is as suggested, De Ligt would be behind a handful of players fighting for their Red Devils’ future.

It’s understood those picking up more are Casemiro, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Mason Mount, Bruno Fernandes, Antony and Harry Maguire.

  • Eze tipped to stay in London

Arsenal and Tottenham have the edge on Manchester United and Manchester City over recruiting Eberechi Eze.

That's the verdict of Gunners' strike legend Alan Smith as Crystal Palace brace themselves for bids for their England Euro 2024 fringe player.

Smith told Genting Casino of the Eagles: “They would have gone into this summer begrudgingly prepared to let one of their crown jewels depart.

"Michael Olise has already moved onto Bayern Munich, so that will have addressed any financial concerns the club may have had and the funds raised from his sale will help them bring in their own players.

"In terms of a preference of club, Eze is a London boy, so perhaps that gives an advantage to the likes of Arsenal or Spurs if they are indeed interested in him.

"I think he’s definitely good enough to play for one of the bigger clubs in the league, no disrespect to Palace."

  • 'Why I need a bigger squad'

Erik ten Hag has emphasised the need for more Manchester United arrivals — particularly with added games in the Europa League this season.

He said: “We know, in depth, we need more players. With the new format in Europe, you’ll have more games, more intense games, no winter break, a very condensed January.

“You need squad depth. Then it’s more and more about survival of the fittest.”

  • Erik hails new boy Zirkzee

Old Trafford boss Erik ten Hag is clearly excited about new striker Joshua Zirkzee.

Ten Hag said: “He’s a player who can link up the game, who can be available, hold up the ball, have good ideas, be creative, dribble, make combinations.

“It gives us more options tactically, especially up front, as we have many players who can be direct and benefit.”

  • Toney 'likelier to join Spurs than Utd or Arsenal'

Tottenham have emerged as the favourites to sign Ivan Toney - if England's Euro 2024 fringe striker leaves Brentford this summer.

Manchester United are tipped to back off after landing Joshua Zirkzee as competition for Rasmus Hojlund.

The Gunners could well focus, transfer wise, on another midfielder.

Instead, spurs' need could be greatest as they weigh up an offer for the £60million-rated star.

  • De Ligt would be 'well down Utd's earning list'

Matthijs de Ligt could agree a Manchester United pay deal making him only their EIGHTH best earner.

Bayern Munich's Dutch centre-back is reportedly ready to sign a five-year deal at Old Trafford worth around £170,000 a week.

It's suggested the £42million fee could be paid in instalments

But if the wage packet is as suggested, De Ligt would be behind a handful of players fighting for their Red Devils' future.

It's understood those picking up more are Casemiro, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Mason Mount, Bruno Fernandes, Antony and Harry Maguire.

  • Trouble Dutch

Ex-Manchester United starlet Tahith Chong suffered a rough injury during a pre-season friendly for Luton.

The Championship returnees beat Rukh Lviv in Slovenia thanks to Carlton Morris' winner after just 15 minutes.

However, the Hatters' manager Rob Edwards suffered an injury scare as Chong had to be subbed off on 56 minutes.

That was after a horror challenge that brought the game to a standstill as the Dutchman needed medical treatment.

The winger was replaced by Chiedozie Ogbene and so far there has been no fitness update.

Luton fans were left shocked as they stormed social media shortly after the incident.

  • ‘United eye Arsenal target Ferdi’

Arsenal could face competition from Manchester United for Fenerbahce left-back Ferdi Kadioglu this summer.

The Netherlands-born 24-year-old helped Turkey reach the Euro 2024 quarter-finals.

TEAMtalk claim £29.5milion-valued Kadioglu, who previously played for Dutch top-flight club NEC, is a “main objective” in United’s transfer plans.

It follows problems at left-back last term for the Red Devils.

However, Luke Shaw has battled back to full fitness – starting in England’s Euro 2024 final loss to Spain.

And Tyrell Malacia is now training again after more than a year out.

  • ‘Red Devils want to pair Wharton & Mainoo’

Manchester United are dreaming of pairing their midfield starlet Kobbie Mainoo with fellow England prospect Adam Wharton.

That’s the claim from CaughtOffside tonight after United lost their first pre-season friendly, 1-0 at Rosenborg.

    Credit: Getty

Mainoo forced his way into the Three Lions’ starting team during Euro 2024, including last night’s final agony against Spain.

But Crystal Palace pass-master Wharton failed to break through in Germany.

But he had a brilliant Prem season in 2023-24.

And it’s claimed United reckon the duo would blend well together.

  • Ten Hag finally speaks on on Sancho

Erik ten Hag has broken his silence on resolving his bust-up with Jadon Sancho – but refused to say if the winger has a future at Manchester United, writes KATHERINE WALSH.

Sancho, shipped out on loan to former club Borussia Dortmund in January, returned to full-time training at Carrington last week.

The 24-year-old and Ten Hag held positive talks last Wednesday - agreeing to draw a line under their past disputes.

Sancho was permitted to return to training with United's senior squad for the time in 10 months.

But did not travel to Norway for the club's first pre-season friendly against Rosenborg on Monday - where United suffered a shock 1-0 defeat.

Speaking publicly for the first time since making up with Sancho, Ten Hag commented: "As we said, we've drawn the line.

"Manchester United needs good players and Jadon is a good player. We have drawn that line and we move on.”

But when quizzed on Sancho's complete fresh start, Ten Hag would only say: “We've drawn the line. We move on.”
