Aldi ‘own brand’ Greek style yoghurt is the same as Muller after shopper finds pot in her Brooklea pack

Claire Pennell, 43, from Pontypridd, South Wales, spotted the packaging blunder after she bought a multi pack of Brooklea Greek style yogurts from her local store

ALDI's own brand Brooklea Greek style yogurts are actually made by posher brand Müller, the Sun Online can reveal.

It emerged after a savvy shopper spotted that one of her Brooklea - the budget supermarket's own brand - Greek style yogurts was in a Müller branded pot.

Claire Pennell, 43, from Pontypridd, South Wales, spotted the packaging blunder after picking up a multi pack of coconut and vanilla flavoured light Brooklea yogurts, from her local store.

Even though the lid was labelled with Aldi's own brand, the pot clearly had the Müller logo on it.

She told the Sun Online: "I didn’t notice it straight away.

"It was only when I went to take one out of the fridge a couple of days later and wondered where the Müller yogurt came from because I haven’t bought any for months.

"I then realised by the top that it was one of the Aldi ones.

"There's no point paying for Müller's if they are the same and cheaper in Aldi."

Claire can't remember exactly how much she spent on the yogurts, although she thinks they cost her around £1, but a similar pack of four 120g pots of Müller ones cost £2.50 from Tesco.

We asked both Müller and Aldi if the brand does actually make the same yogurt for the budget supermarket.

While Aldi said that it did not comment on "individual supplier relationships", Müller confirmed to the Sun Online that it did make the snacks for the German supermarket.

Can our taste testers tell the difference between Aldi and Lidl lookalike products compared to original sweets and snacks they aim to copy?

A spokesperson for the firm said: "Müller branded yogurt products are unique and made to their own recipe with milk from British farmers.

"While maintaining the same high standards, the private label products we supply to our customers are made to a different recipe.

"We are investigating how this packaging mix-up happened."

After spotting the blunder, she posted it on the Aldi Shoppers UK Facebook group.

It's not the first time that Aldi has been caught out selling posher brands for cheaper prices.

Shopper Graeme Clapp bought a multipack of Aldi’s Snackrite Hoops — but found branded packs of KP’s Hula Hoops inside.
