Islamabad:In a surprise move, Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Rubina Khalid, visited the BISP payment campsite near Pak-China Centre and the One Window Centre in G-7, Islamabad.
The purpose of this unannounced visit was to scrutinise the payment disbursement process and evaluate the facilities provided to women beneficiaries receiving their quarterly Benazir Kafaalat stipends. Mrs. Khalid engaged directly with beneficiaries, listening to their concerns and stressing the importance of heeding official communications. She warned that any contact from numbers other than the official 8171 is fraudulent and urged beneficiaries to only respond to messages from this number.
She clarified that the current Kafaalat tranche amount is Rs. 10,500 and urged beneficiaries to ensure they receive the full amount, along with a bank receipt. In cases of any deductions, she directed beneficiaries to immediately lodge complaints via the BISP helpline (0800-26477) or visit the BISP office. Mrs. Khalid highlighted the necessity of staff treating beneficiaries with respect and emphasized a zero-tolerance policy for misconduct. She actively monitored the payment process and personally supervised a payment to an elderly beneficiary. She motivated staff by stating, "Performing your duties with full honesty will earn you JANNAT."
The chairman during her visit, she expressed concerns about the slowness of the payment mechanism and instructed staff to resolve connectivity and device issues with banks. She also mandated that no tokens be issued to individuals without a stipend amount in their accounts. At the One Window Centre, Mrs. Khalid observed the registration process and instructed that clear written instructions and banners be displayed to guide beneficiaries and visitors.
Mrs. Rubina Khalid's visit demonstrates her commitment to enhancing the efficiency and transparency of the BISP payment system, ensuring beneficiaries receive their due amounts with dignity and respect.
