A Romantic Vintage-Inspired Wedding at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden in Brooklyn, New York

Kelley Wachter (28 and a physician's assistant) and Kevin Mali (28 and a mechanical engineer) met during their sophomore and junior years of college at the University of Pittsburgh, where they happened to be neighbors. "The first night that I moved into my apartment, Kevin and his friends were having a party in our shared backyard and invited us. Kevin offered to cook me a hotdog, which at the time was my favorite food, after that we talked all night and had an instant connection," says Kelley. "We started dating shortly after and the rest is history." Kevin proposed at their home in their apartment in Williamsburg after a long day of Black Friday shopping, enlisting the help of their cat Bailey. Kevin had bought Bailey a new rhinestone collar and attached the engagement ring to it. " When I got home I noticed the cat was wearing a different collar and by the time I noticed the ring was on it, he was down on one knee proposing," says Kelley. "I had always joked to Kevin that if I were to get a diamond, our beloved cat should as well. And she did!"The Brooklyn Botanical Garden was an obvious choice for the couple, who loves exploring all of New York City's many parks and gardens. "The magnificent flowers and garden fit our romantic, vintage theme perfectly," says Kelley. The couple exchanged vows in an outdoor ceremony on the Atrium's patio at dusk under freshly bloomed pink magnolia trees. Kelley, Kyle and their guests moved into the elegant Palm House Atrium afterwards for a night of celebrating. A soft blush and ivory color palette was chosen for the day with pops of silver mixed in for a subtle glam touch. Full blooms like peonies, roses and hydrangeas were used for the bouquets and centerpieces for a lush, romantic feel. The couple handmade both the place cards and menus, decorating each with antique lace and buttons and had a guest book custom made in the UK to resemble a story book, both fitting in seamlessly with the wedding's romantic, vintage theme. Lots of candlelight and dramatic purple uplighting lit up the Palm House Atrium, giving the space an enchanting, romantic vibe.
