CEDAR RAPIDS -- The St. Ludmila Catholic Church Social Justice Committee in partnership with the St. Ludmila Religious Education Program will host a special presentation on Group Violence Intervention, Stand Up for Peace, from 5:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 4 in the Social Hall, 211 21st Ave. SW.
All members of the community in sixth grade and above are invited and strongly encouraged to attend to learn more about the harsh reality of group violence in Cedar Rapids and beyond, and what we can do to bring about more peace in our community, especially for our children and youth. Stand Up for Peace will feature representatives from Foundation II, the Cedar Rapids Police Department, and Linn County Public Health.
The presentation, which will include time for questions and discussion, will run 5:45 to 7 p.m. It will be followed by an optional viewing of the powerful, eye-opening video “When You Pick Up a Gun” with discussion following from 7 to 7:30 p.m. (Parental advisory: the video contains difficult thematic material and strong language.)
