CEDAR RAPIDS — A man from Rockwell City has been arrested in Linn County on charges that he sexually abused a woman last year in Cedar Rapids.
Michael Mease, 44, is charged with third-degree sexual abuse. According to a criminal complaint, the woman reported to police that the abuse happened sometime between April 15 and 19, 2024. Earlier on the day he is accused of attacking the woman, Mease texted her saying that he wanted to rape her, according to the complaint.
A warrant was issued Dec. 19, 2024, for Mease’s arrest and he was taken into custody Wednesday. He had a first appearance in court Wednesday and was released on his own recognizance. A no-contact order has been filed on behalf of the victim.
