Lauren K. Alleyne is the author of Difficult Fruit and the forthcoming collection Honeyfish, the assistant director of the Furious Flower Poetry Center, and an associate professor of English at James Madison University. She won The Atlantic’s Student Writing Contest award for poetry in 2003.
