While you're at it here's some good reading with Les & EVH

That headless guitar looks a little later headless/ergo guitars, but it really isn't pretty. Was Les trying to distance himself from EVH?

What really struck me was what he said at the end there about substance abuse and weakness. It left me with the image of the 'tortured artist' on one hand and the 'push the boundary type artist'. Their art comes from the same place, no? Where else does it come from?

Interesting read. What fascinates me most is how the details of these stories vary a little depending on where they're published and who said what... And, of course, Les was old enough at the time that his memory might have been starting to do funny things to him.

The picture of the headless guitar looks funny. Look at his left hand and underneath his left ring finger. It also looks like that headless guitar would have a nut about an inch wide. Maybe it's just the perspective, but it looks doctored to me.

Gibson invented the guitar that can become headless if it falls the wrong way.
