Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, paid a subtle tribute to her husband, Prince Edward, as he became a member of the Order of the Thistle this week.
The Duke of Edinburgh was awarded The Order of the Thistle by the King, on the occasion of his 60th birthday earlier this year. Revived by King James VII, the Order has a complement of 16 Knights.

The jewels are believed to have been a gift from Prince Edward to the Duchess of Edinburgh on the celebration of their silver wedding anniversary, which took place weeks ago. The couple have lived in the 51-acre Bagshot estate for all 25 years of their marriage, moving in following their royal wedding back in 1999.
Scotland has long been a significant place for Prince Edward, who was bestowed the title of Duke of Edinburgh in March 2023. He has long championed the organisation, which was established by his father, Prince Philip. He also regularly hosts garden parties at the Palace of Holyroodhouse
