Princess Theodora of Greece has set the date for her wedding to her lawyer fiancé after the couple previously postponed their wedding date twice.

The Greek royal, who was born in London, started dating Matthew Kumar in 2016, with the couple announcing their engagement in November 2018. They initially set the date for their wedding in 2020 and planned to tie-the-knot on the Greek island of Spetses - until they were forced to delay the event because of the Covid-19 pandemic. They rescheduled a second time after the tragic loss of Theodora's father, King Constantine of Greece, in January 2023. Princess Theodora and Kumar were pictured side-by-side at King Constantine of Greece at St George's Chapel in Windsor.

Now, the couple have found a new date for their nuptials and according to Hello! are planning to tie the knot on 28 September 2024. Little else is known about their wedding day, though some have speculated Princess Theodora could be walked down the aisle by her brother Crown Prince Pavlos following her father's death.

Announcing their engagement back in November 2018, Princess Theodora of Greece, who attended Woldingham School in Surrey, shared the happy news on Instagram, saying: 'Words can't express our happiness and excitement. I can't wait to marry this wonderful man. I love you, Matt.'

At the time, her parents separately released a statement saying: 'Their Majesties King Constantine and Queen Anne-Marie are delighted to announce the engagement of their youngest daughter Theodora to Mr Matthew Kumar.

'Further details about the forthcoming wedding will be provided in due course. Mr Matthew Kumar, 34, was born and raised in Southern California to Sam and Lonnie Kumar. He is a practising attorney in Los Angeles.’

When their wedding was postponed for a first time, Theodora celebrated with her husband-to-be. She posted a snap of herself with Matthew on Instagram, with the pair enjoying a romantic evening dining on Greek salad, olives, bread and cheese and shared a tipple.

As she posted the photo, the Princess wrote: ‘On what should have been our wedding weekend - the love and support from friends and family have been so appreciated. We can’t wait to celebrate with all of you in Greece once it’s safe.’

The second wedding date for the couple came in ‘early summer’ in 2023, with the couple hoping to get married in Porto Heli, Greece.

Tragically, just weeks after the wedding date was announced, the Greek Royal Household shared the news King Constantine had passed away. The couple were seen attending the memorial service in Windsor alongside a number of other royals, including Queen Letizia of Spain. Two months later, the princess posted a tribute to him on Instagram which read, ‘It’s been two months since you left us. Miss you everyday Papa. Love you.’
