خطوة إلى عالم لا حدود له من القصص
'Mieko Kawakami is a genius' - Naoise Dolan, author of Exciting Times From the bestselling author of Breasts and Eggs and international literary sensation Mieko Kawakami, comes a sharp and illuminating novel about a fourteen-year-old boy subjected to relentless bullying. In Heaven, a fourteen-year old boy is tormented for having a lazy eye. Instead of resisting, he chooses to suffer in silence. The only person who understands what he is going through is a female classmate, Kojima, who experiences similar treatment at the hands of her bullies. Providing each other with immeasurable consolation at a time in their lives when they need it most, the two young friends grow closer than ever. But what, ultimately, is the nature of a friendship when your shared bond is terror? Unflinching yet tender, sharply observed, intimate and multi-layered, this simple yet profound novel stands as yet another dazzling testament to Mieko Kawakami's uncontainable talent. There can be little doubt that it has cemented her reputation as one of the most important young authors at work today. 'An expertly told, deeply unsettling tale of adolescent violence' - Vogue Translated from the Japanese by David Boyd and Sam Bett. Translation © 2021 by Mieko Kawakami

I was like “what the actual ****” most of the time. ‼️spoilers ahead‼️It had some unwanted details about weird things like Kojima’s sliva’s smell! The masturbating scenes were another thing that I find… just not it! Specially the last one. Mainly, the scenes were extremely disturbing to hear and had a weird timing in my opinion. Their interactions were weird all of the time except when they were talking about bullying (which I disagreed with most of their points of view upon the subject). THE THING IN WHALE PARK BEFORE THE ENDING WAS SO UNEXPECTED AND SOMEHOW HORRIFYING. I could say that it was the only thing that got me interested in the book but not so much? It lasted few minutes so I wouldn’t consider myself interested in the book.‼️end of spoilers‼️I couldn’t get my self into the the plot or get attached to any thing in the book generally. However, it’s not a book I would recommend nor would I reread. Had to give it a star just so I could submit the review.
