Hanley Town have announced that manager Carl Dickinson has left the non-League club "by mutual consent".

Hanley say it was a joint decision, not based on football but due to "increased business costs". Dickinson's assistant Dave Kevan has also departed.

Former Stoke City and Port Vale player Dickinson led Hanley to promotion last season by winning the Midland League Premier Division title. He leaves the team seventh in Northern Premier League Division One West.

A club statement on Thursday evening read: "We can confirm Carl Dickinson & Dave Kevan have left the club by mutual consent. This is not a football decision, we have made this decision jointly due to increased business costs, which are impacting us all.

"In the last 16 months Carl has lead us to a League Championship, two very successful FA Cup Campaigns, for which we will be eternally grateful for. We cannot thank Carl and Dave enough for all their effort and work.

"We wish them all the best for the future and they will always be welcome at Hanley Town FC."
