Carlos Alcaraz publicly announcing his primary goal for the 2025 season has fans concerned about the pressure the Spaniard is putting on himself. The 21-year-old has expressed his wish to get his hands on a converted prize that has eluded him in his already illustrious career.

Though he may only be 21-years-old, Alcaraz boasts one of the finest tennis resumes of all time, having won four majors, an Olympic silver, 16 titles, and the World No. 1 ranking. However, he has yet to get his hands on the Australian Open, where he has never made it past the quarterfinals.

Ahead of 2025, the Spaniard has boldly claimed his wish to complete the career Grand Slam.

"I want to win the Australian Open to complete the Career Grand Slam... Australia is what I want to tattoo. Being champion there is my main goal for next season."

Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their concern. One fan mentioned how things haven't worked out for Alcaraz whenever he made such statements. One of the examples came at the Paris Olympics.

"I hope you keep your ambition to your chest @carlosalcaraz most of the times you make this statement you end up losing the tournament, your fans wants you to win but something’s are kept secret till it materialize. Pls keep training & let your hard work speak for itself," the fan said.

Another fan said they aren't a fan of players making such bold statements:

"I hate when players put this kind of pressure on themselves by saying this publicly. Be driven and motivated, but to be this specific is so risky, especially so early in the year. If it doesn't work out, is the rest of the season then a failure? Hold your cards closer, Carlos," the fan commented.

Here are some other reactions from the fans.

"At least he's not telling us that HE WILL win and to tune in to watch the show that he'll put on," a fan quipped.
"When was the last time Carlos manifested out loud and it worked," a fan questioned.
"Don’t beat Rafa's record," a fan requested.
"Jannik will have something to say about that," a fan mentioned.

Provided he does win the Australian Open, Carlos Alcaraz would become the youngest male to complete the career Grand Slam.

While speaking to the press ahead of his exhibition match against Ben Shelton at the Madison Square Garden, Carlos Alcaraz stated that him winning the Australian Open was inevitable.

"I'm sure I'll be the Australian champion sooner or later. Hopefully it will be this year," he said.

The World No. 3 also mentioned what made the Melbourne major tough was the fact that each player wants to show the results of their training during the off-season.

“To sell their cards on the table and show everything they have worked hard to achieve a good result.”

Carlos Alcaraz fell to Alcaraz Zverev 1-6, 3-6, 7-6(2), 4-6 in a thrilling encounter at the 2024 Australian Open. He has kicked off his preseason training as he looks to reign in Melbourne next season.
