MMA fans recently voiced their thoughts after witnessing Dricus du Plessis firing a shot at Khamzat Chimaev in one of his recent Instagram posts. Many appreciated the South African's witty response, while one provided him with a prestigious title for his skills.
Du Plessis has his next fight lined up for UFC 312. He will be locking horns with his former rival Sean Strickland to defend his UFC middleweight gold on Feb. 9. However, Chimaev's first-round submission victory over Robert Whittaker at UFC 308 had Du Plessis electing him as his next preferred rival over Strickland.
Du Plessis may have accepted the UFC's offer for a rematch with Strickland as his next encounter, but a recent X update from @ChampRDS shows Du Plessis deriding Chimaev after a fan tried to mock him following his Instagram post with a shark. The fan penned:
"Don’t kiss it on the mouth".

Dricus Du Plessis fired a shot at Sean Strickland after the latter's performance at UFC 302
Dricus du Plessis has mentioned multiple times why he didn't want to accept Sean Strickland as his next title defense rival, despite finally accepting the UFC's offer for a rematch. He also derided Strickland's approach for their UFC 297 encounter in a previous TMZ Sports interview.
Du Plessis recently appeared in another interview with Fox Sports Australia, mentioning that Strickland had done nothing to change his "boring" fight style even for his UFC 302 encounter against Paulo Costa. 'Stillknocks' said:
"Nothing's changed. He [Strickland] looked boring like every other fight, walking forward jabbing and teeping. It wasn't an exciting fight... It wasn't a bad performance, it was the most normal performance from him ever."
