Oak View Group breaks ground on new $100M arena in Nigeria

Oak View Group

Oak View Group is now developing arenas on four continents after breaking ground on a new $100M arena in Lagos, Nigeria. OVG partnered with Live Nation, the Persianas Group (a Nigerian real estate investment firm), and the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority.

The Yinka Folawiyo Group, Nigerian investment fund Adino Capital and MBO Capital are also centrally involved in delivering the 12,000-seat arena, which is expected to be finished by December 2025 and will be Nigeria’s first such-sized indoor sports and entertainment venue.

Like OVG’s CFG Bank Arena project, the Lagos arena -- naming rights haven't been sold yet -- will be built on live music, in this case to capture the buzz around the Afrobeat music genre which is producing huge global stars from Nigeria, including Burna Boy, Wizkid and Davido.

The building is planning to host UFC and WWE events, the former featuring a slew of top stars from the African continent, as well as basketball. OVG International, based in London, is running the Lagos project.

OVG’s others in-process arena projects are underway in Sao Paolo, Brazil; Manchester, England; and Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; and a mixed-use development project including an arena, casino, hotel, and other attractions. A previously announced OVG arena project in Cardiff, Wales is still pinning down design and project costs.
