ASCE noted Baker’s multi-decade legacy in the field of structural engineering, marking him as one of the foremost experts of our time. His pioneering contributions have been instrumental in the development and application of advanced structural analysis and topology optimization techniques, resulting in groundbreaking, economically viable, and architecturally captivating buildings. Notable among his achievements is the development of the revolutionary “buttressed core” structural system for the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.
