The Daily Transfer Round Up – Wednesday, June 7

Stories are being added and updated throughout the day, so make sure to return here again later.

Bayern Munich set to sign Raphael Guerreiro

Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Raphael Guerreiro over a free transfer from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 63-cap Portugal international spent seven years at the Signal Iduna Park, and with his contract expiring at the end of the month, he has decided to switch his allegiance to the reigning Bundesliga champions. The 29-year-old was previously linked with Atletico Madrid.

Though primarily a left-back, Guerreiro played in recent games as a central midfielder, and it remains to be seen what Bayern head coach Thomas Tuchel has in mind for him.

Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund reach Jude Belligham agreement

According to several reports, Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund over the proposed transfer of Jude Bellingham. The fee the Spanish giants are expected to pay for the services of the 19-year-old midfielder will be more than €100 million, putting the move among the most expensive ones in the history of either club.

Bellingham was always likely to leave the Signal Iduna Park and for a while, the race to secure his talents was between Real and two Premier League heavyweights – Manchester City and Liverpool. Liverpool were believed to be ahead of the other two contenders, but once they realized Dortmund would not back down on the asking price, they pulled out of the talks and turned to other targets.

Why exactly City haven’t put in a stronger effort remains a mystery, though some believe that spending that much on one player might reflect badly on the club that’s being investigated for 115 accounts of alleged financial wrongdoing.

Be that as it may, once Liverpool pulled out, Real became the favourites and moved relatively quickly to convince Bellingham and his camp to come to the Spanish capital.

The England international is now set to undergo a medical, before he is confirmed officially as a Real Madrid player.

Wilfried Zaha to join Ronaldo at Al-Nassr?

Clubs from Saudi Arabia appear to have started an offensive with the aim of signing as many of football’s top stars as possible this summer. Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr on January 1st after his contract with Manchester United was terminated, and as reported by Sky Sports, Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha has a very lucrative offer to join him there.

Meanwhile, in case you missed it yesterday, Al-Ittihad have signed Real Madrid icon Karim Benzema and are on the verge of completing a deal for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, who has reportedly undergone a medical ahead of the transfer.

Liverpool sign Mac Allister for £35m?

Fabrizio Romano claims Liverpool have completed the signing of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Hove Albion. The medical is believed to have been done on Tuesday and the Argentina international has apparently signed a five-year contract with the Reds, though official confirmation by the club is yet to come.

But the most intriguing aspect of the deal, presuming Romano’s information is correct, is the fee. A clause in Mac Allister’s contract with Brighton has been triggered – a clause amounting to no more than £35 million, even though initial reports suggested potential suitors would have to be willing to pay twice as much.

Inter Miami push for Messi

Inter Miami are reportedly working in collaboration with the Major League Soccer to try and sign Lionel Messi as a free agent.

The 35-year-old superstar has run out of contract at Paris Saint-Germain and will not be signing a new one. Barcelona are working hard to take him back to Camp Nou where he’d be playing under former teammate, now head coach Xavi Hernandez. There have been reports about interest from Saudi Arabia as well.

But Inter Miami are confident that, boosted by some of league’s most prominent partners, such as Apple and Adidas, their offer might just be lucrative enough to lure Messi to Florida.

UPDATE:

Inter Miami have now confirmed the signing of Lionel Messi on a free transfer.

Interestingly enough, after announcing the decision to join the MLS side, Messi revealed he wasn’t sure everyone at Barcelona wanted him back.

“I’m not sure if Barça did everything possible to make it happen, honestly,” he said. “I just know what Xavi told me.”

“I’m sure that there were people in the club that did NOT want me to return to Barca, considering my return negative for the club.”

Messi also said his decision to go to Inter Miami wasn’t money-driven, and considering that he had an offer to go to the Saudi Arabia, he probably spoke the truth in that matter.

Meanwhile, the MLS have issued an official statement.

“We are pleased that Lionel Messi has stated that he wants to join Inter Miami and Major League Soccer this summer. Although work remains to finalize a formal agreement, we look forward to welcoming one of the greatest soccer players of all time to our League.”

Aouar set for Roma switch

Houssem Aouar has confirmed his departure from Olympique Lyon as a free agent, and according to several sources, he has already signed a contract to play for AS Roma from next season.

Previous reports suggested a deal for the 24-year-old midfielder to join Roma was close back in early May, though Tottenham Hotspur were believed to be trying to take him across the English channel for a while.

Losing the Europa League final to Sevilla after finishing sixth in the Serie A, Roma have failed to qualify for the Champions League, but with Aouar in his ranks, head coach Jose Mourinho will surely try again.
