Evergreen first opened her service to Europe in 1979. Vessels arriving from Asia one time every fortnight. In those days Evergreen was represented by an agency, which cooperation lasted through the end of 2000. In January 2001, Evergreen opened her own office in the Netherlands: Evergreen Netherlands B.V. with the majority of the staff joining. In order to effectively promote the service for cross-border business in the European market, Evergreen Shipping Agency (Netherlands) B. V. would be merged into Evergreen Shipping Agency(Europe) GmbH Netherlands branch for carrying out shipping agency business as from January 1st, 2018.
