Thank you for purchasing VPSS 3i BEND.


This manual explains the functions and operations of VPSS 3i BEND.
Please read this manual before using the software and refer whenever required.

About this manual

This document will describe VPSS 3i BEND operations.


Through studying this document you can understand the basic concepts involved in VPSS
3i BEND and operational procedures.

Structure of this manual

This document is made up of four chapters, which are summerized here -

 Chapter1 Initial setting


This chapter explains the initial settings such as system setting, machine and
material registration and backup file creation.
 Chapter2 General Operation
This chapter explains the basic operations of starting up the Production
Designer (PD), batch processing on the ABE Planner(Bend), Full Auto or
Common Layout on the ABE Planner(Bend), importing part data from vSDD,
generating bend data on BendCAM and then saving the bend data into Data
Explorer.
 Chapter3 Bend Data Setting and Editing
This chapter explains the manual functions when setting or editing bend
sequences, tools, backgauge and other items when using BendCAM.

The processing time calculation setting when creating bending data is

Section1 Initial setting after installation

This chapter will describe initial settings such as System, Material, Machine, Tool and how
to create the backup file which is required after installation.

System settings

The System Settings control the whole VPSS 3i BEND environment, which is explained as
follows.
To Access the System Settings
[Option Settings]
Double click [ ProductinDesigner] at desktop.
[Production Designer ] window is displayed.

Click [ Application Menu].


Click [Option].

[Option Settings] dialog box is displayed.

[System Settings]
This option can be setting the language and units (mm/inch) for the whole system
environment.

[System settings]
Specify [Behavior] at [System Settings].
Select language for VPSS 3i BEND from list of [Current Setting] drop down menu.
Please confirm the current language.

Select [Display Unit] at [System Settings].


Select unit for the whole system from [mm (Metric)] or [inch (inches)] the list of [Display
Unit Settings].

The Values for Length Significant Digit and Angle Significant Digit are to control the
number of places to be displayed to the right of decimal point.
Click [Apply].
Click [OK].

Tips: [Language Setting] and [Display Unit] are unified information for the
complete VPSS 3i BEND application.

Parameter Setting
Here explains on the registration of materials, machines and tools.
This explanation is required for the part which auto plan is executed in “Chapter2-1
General Operation - Create bend data on BEND CAM – Bend Data loading, creation and
saving per bend type”.
Backup file of Parameter (UsersGuideParameterBackup.px2) which is set in parameter
setting is stored in VPSS 3i installation folder (Default Path: C:\Program
Files\AMADA3i\UsersGuide\SampleData)
By restoring the parameter from Parameter Explorer, the parameter comes to be available.
Regarding how to restore, refer the UsersGuide of Parameter Explorer.

[Parameter Explorer] invocation

Double click [ Parameter Explorer] on desktop to start Parameter Explorer.


[Parameter Explorer] window is displayed.

Material Setting
About the operation of registering and deleting material information, please refer to the
Parameter Explorer UsersGuide.

Tool Setting
Here explains how to register new tools and how to create new tool group.
This explanation is required for the part which auto plan is executed in “Chapter2-1
General Operation - Create bend data on BEND CAM – Bend Data loading, creation and
aving per bend type”.

Open [Tool] tab.

[Tool] window at [Parameter Explorer]

[Tool] window is as followings.

Click [ ].
Open Punch holder setting window by clicking [Registered bend tool]-[Punch holder].

Click [ Register with Master].


[Register with Master] dialog box is displayed.
Specify Material pattern: [790001] from the list, and click [Register] button.

Click [Close] button.


The selected tool is added in the registered tool list.

Tips: Entry Master has multiple tools. Please select tools on [Entry Master]
correctly.
Select [Punch]、[Die]、[Die holder] 、[Die block] 、[Gage]-[Gage tip] and register
following tools as same as punch holder.

Tips: If you did not select [ Save], the registered data will not be reflected to
tool list. You need to select [ Save] after register tools.

Click [Bend tool priority].
Bend tool priority window is displayed.

Click [ New].
[Add bend tool group] dialog is displayed.

Set [Tool group name]. Please set [TEST-AMADA].


Please set [AMADA] for [Bend tool type].

Click [ OK].Newly registered tool group is added to Tool group list.

Bend tool priority setting


Case of V Bend
This explanation is required for the V Bend part which auto plan is executed in “Chapter2-1
General Operation - Create bend data on BEND CAM – Bend Data loading, creation and
saving per bend type”.

Click [VBend]-[Die].
V bend die priority setting window is displayed.

Select [Material]:CRS.
Select [Thickness]:1.600.
Select [V-width]: 8.000.

Click [Edit] button next.

The [die selection] dialog is displayed.

1 is displayed in [Priority] when you select [ ] after clicking tool number [07100].
Click [Save] button.

Set following data in priority 1 in same manner.

Click [Step-Bend]-[Die].
Step-Bend die priority setting window is displayed.

Select [Material]:CRS.
Select [Thickness]:1.200.
Select [V-width]: 8.000.

Case of RR Bend
This explanation is required for the RR Bend part which auto plan is executed in
“Chapter2-1 General Operation - Create bend data on BEND CAM – Bend Data loading,
creation and saving per bend type”.

Click [RR-Bend].
RR-Bend tool priority is displayed.

Select [Material]:CRS.
Select [Thickness]:1.200.

Click [Add] in IR setting.

Enter Min:10.00 and Max:15.00.


Click [OK] button.

Select [Punch radius]:10.00 and click [Edit] for punch, then tool priority for RR Bend
Punch is displayed.

Case of Hemming Bend


You can register both slider type hemming and double-deck type hemming in the
Hemming Tool Priority Order.
Set the Die Hemming Bend Acute Tool Priority Order to either "Acute" or "Hem double
deck" to decide the order in which tools are picked when auto-generating sequences for
hemming.

When registering a Hem double deck tool


This explanation is required for the Hemming Bend part which auto plan is executed in
“Chapter2-1 General Operation - Create bend data on BEND CAM – Bend Data loading,
creation and saving per bend type”.

Click [Hem-Bend]-[Die].
Hem-Bend die priority setting window is displayed.

Select [Material]:CRS.
Select [Thickness]:1.200.
Select [V-width]: 8.000.

Click [Z-Bend] then tool priority for Z Bend is displayed.

Select [Material]:CRS.
Select [Thickness]:1.000
Click [Add] in “Setting status per step-height” then Setting Step-height dialog is displayed.

Enter [Step-height]:5.00.
Click [OK] button.

Click “Set tool-pair” then Tool-pair setup for Z-BEND is displayed.

Select Punch Tool Number[777102] and Die Tool Number[777102] then click “Setting”.

Click [K] in Confirmation dialog.

The following steps will explain how to register new machine setting and parameter
setting.

Open [Machine] tab.

[Machine] window at [Parameter Explorer]

Machine registration

Click [ New]. [Add new machine] dialog box will be displayed.


Select [BENDING].

Select [HG] from [Type], and enter [BCAM-HG1303] for [Machine Name].

Click [ OK] button


[Machine type & option setting window] will be displayed.

Specify [Machine model] and [options].


Please select [Model]: [1303].
Please select [PHL]-[TypeName]:[AMADA].
Please select [PHL]-[Name]:[790001]
Please select [Gage-Name]-[Name]:[21825].

Tips: When the default setting is [DHL/DBK], if the default setting is ON, DHL or
DBK can be selected and the division length to be used can be set.
The dividing length registered in the mold tab can be set.

In addition, the initialized DHL/DBK must be registered in order of


precedence.

Click [ OK] button.


[Check] dialog box to confirm to save the setting machine is displayed.

Click [ OK] button

[Check] dialog box is displayed if it is saved correctly.

Click [ OK] button.


Newly registered machine is then added to the machine name list.

[Machine Infomation] or[Auto-Process Condition] or [ProcessTime Settings] is


displayed by clicking the triangle mark to the left of the machine name.

AutoProcess Condition setting


Set the process condition to execute auto bend process generation of VPSS 3i BEND.

1 Click [AutoProcess Condition], then auto process Condition window is displayed.

2 Specify [TEST-AMADA] for [AutoProcess Condition] which is registered in advance.


Click [ Save] button.

Tips 1: The initial parameters for [AutoProcess Condition] are almost specified
except [BendOrderComposition-Main-Tool DB Name].
Please specify the [BendOrderComposition-Main-Tool DB Name] when
newly machine is registered.
Tips 2: [BendOrderComposition – Main – Tool DB Name] can not be set if Tool
DB Name is not registered. In advance, register Tool DB Name from
[ToolTab – Bending tool – Bend tool priority].

Coining bend Parameter setting


In the case of operating for coining bends mainly, set coining parameter.
Setting is unnecessary when automatically creating bend data of a part used in Chapter 2:
General Operation, [Section 1: Create bend data on BendCAM] - [Bend Data loading,
creation and saving per bend type].

Click [02.ToolSelect]- [02-2.BendType]- [02-2-1.V-bend] tab from the menu of


[AutoProcess Condition].

Set the checkbox ON for [selecting tool that V-Bend is regarded as coining bend].

Tips: If the checkbox of [selecting tool that V-Bend is regarded as coining bend]
is set to ON, the feasible tools for coining bends will be selected for V-bend
bendlines automatically on the [Auto] feature of [BendCAM] or [ABE
Planner].

Click [ Save] icon to commit the changes to the machine setting.

Result indication and saving of ABE Planner when Planning is Warning


This section describes Result indication and data storage when Planning is Warning data.
Select [07. Related to Auto] in the menu of [AutoProcess Condition].

Displaying and saving action on ABE Planner for warning bend program

When Planning Result is Warning data, set whether or not to save ABE Planner's Result
field and bending data according to Warning content.
When checked OFF, OK (Warning) is displayed for all Warning and bending data is not
saved.

Each detailed item(Displaying OK and saving cannot be set for all Warning.)

Displaying OK and saving


If Planning Result is Warning data, "OK" is displayed in Result field of ABE Planner and
the bend data is saved.

Displaying Warning and saving


When Planning Result is Warning data, "OK (Warning)" is displayed in ABE Planner's
Result column and the bending data is saved.

Displaying Warning without saving


If Planning Result is Warning data, "OK (Warning)" is displayed in ABE Planner's Result
field and the bend data is not saved.

Tips: Even if you select "Save with OK", if you have selected to save Warning file
for the reason that the file cannot be bended, "OK (Warning)" will be
displayed in ABE Planner's Result field.

Advanced Warning content

Displaying OK and saving is a set Warning


Insufficient flange length
There is a steo without an abutment member
Obtuse angle edge abutment
Insufficient number of storage Tools

Insufficient pressure resistance strength of tool
Collision between a part and a tool

Saving Bend Error Detail message


This chapter despcribes about saving Bend Error Detail message.
When auto planning is executed, if the result is Warning or NG, Bend Error Detail
message can be saved.
This function is available only for the machine whose NC type is
AMNC_V4/V5/V5.1/V5.5(connect vSDD)

Select [07. Related to Auto] in the menu of [AutoProcess Condition].

Set prefer setting depends on actual operation.

Save the feasibility report by Auto

This is a setting to output Bend Error Detail.


When this check is ON, bend error information is saved during auto plan.

Tool control using AITS server data


From the master a registered punch die connected to the Tool Identification System (AITS)
You can register automatically.
Connecting the AITS server
It must be connected to the AITS server in advance.

Double click [ Parameter Explorer] on desktop to start Parameter Explorer.


[Parameter Explorer] window is displayed.

Click [ Application Menu].


Click [Option].

Backup parameter

Click [ Application Menu].

closed from memory. Thus quick invocation is enabled.

[Data exchange between vSDD and SDD] dialog is displayed.

Select the computer name of vSDD server in [Destinate server name:]to save loading
data from SDD(AP100/PCLserver). Selections in the drop down menu are same to the
vSDD server set in [Data selection] window.

Check [Save Destination Specification] and click the [ Reference Button] in [Save
Destination Folder Name] to select a folder..

Tips: If [Save Destination Specification] is checked when [Save Destination


Folder Name] is not specified, the Save Destination Selection dialog will
automatically display to prompt you to select a save destination.
Select the radio button to overwrite the bending process data of same machine name
when bending process data is saved to vSDD server.
Select a server name of the SDD server to [Destinate server name] for saving the data
read from the vSDD to the SDD (AP100/PCL server). A computer name that can be
selected corresponds to the SDD server name which is set in the [Data selection]
window.
Set [Destinate path] to save bending process data to SDD(AP100/PCL) in the case of no
same parts name data in SDD(AP100/PCL Server)
Press the [ Reference ] button of [Destinate path] to select or enter a save destination
folder.
When you want to enable the SDD-vSDD linked server and save it in the server, check the
[Save to cooperate server while it’s available] checkbox.

Tips: It is necessary in advance to set the SDD-vSDD server in DX (Data


Explorer). For the setting method, see the DX parameter guide.

Automation Settings
Here explains on the settings of [Limit time of DrAbe-Auto.] or the settings of machine
names to generate bend data by Auto process generation.

Click the [Bend Settings] button under [Option] on the ribbon menu..

Set [Limit time of running DrAbe-Auto].

Tip: In case that Auto process generation is not completed within [Limit time of
DrAbe-Auto.], the Auto process generation will move to execute for next

Set check for [Auto run] of machine name to execute automatic processing for multiple
machines.

Tip: In the [Full Auto] feature, bending data is generated for the machine name

Sets following conditions to carry out Full Auto


The details of each condition are shown below.

Interval

An interval value for acquiring a bend model file (only SDD) or a part data from the
acquisition server vSDD/SDD.
(It is the setting if bend model file is obtained by every minutes. For example, in the case
of setting 15 minutes, BMF files which is created during 15 minutes from the last obtained
time will be obtained.)

Destinate date:

Specifies the date and time to save a bend model file (only SDD) that is targeted for
cquirement
Obtain the targeted file generated after the specified date and time.
Tip: In Server/Client environment, if the time of PC that Save/Refresh parts data
is set different to the PC in which VPSS 3i BEND is installed, the timing to
load parts data from the vSDD/SDD will be delayed even unable to load the
parts data. The problem can be solved by setting client PC accord to the
server PC time
Acquisition server:

Set the Acquisition server.


・ In case of the vSDD
The server registered in the DX (Data Explorer) can be selected.

・ In case of the vSDD


Select the AP100 / PCL server that is installed.

Check ON if it is required to get data by specified condition which are filtered by [Folder]
or [Material name].
When this check is turned ON, Filter Type is enabled. Default state is OFF.

to the specified condition].Select [Folder] if it is requierd to filter by folder.
Check ON against folder name to specifiy to get data.

It depends on the server you select.

Part information is updated automatically

Be displayed only in case of the vSDD.


Automatically create a bend data comparing the creation date of the bend data and the
update date of the part graphic, if the update date of the part graphic is newer. Be
chacked with regard to design change, etc, when you want to automatically create the
bend data. The default is off.

Obtain the records that their modeling file was modified.

Be displayed only in case of the SDD.

●Inverse color while print the single view drawing
The image of 3D will be printed by reversing the colors by checking this
checkbox. Please choose one that is easy to see as you like.
●The color of tools(the displaying color that the tool manager specified)
The tools of he tool layout will be made into the colored print by checking
this checkbox. The tool is drawn by the display color set up by the
[Bending tool] of [Parameter Explorer].
●Display punch-holder-the info of tool layout
The information of the punch holder will be added to the [Tool layout]
print by checking this checkbox.

● Output destination selection


Select output type from below choice.
● Printer
Set output destination as Printer.
When this is selected, available printers recognized by OS
([Windows ControlPanel]-[Device and Printer] ) is listed to select.
● PDF
Set output destination as PDF.
When this is selected, [Select folder] is enabled and arbitrary folder can
beselected.

● GUID barcode output setting


● Use GUID barcode of the machinePrinter
When check is ON, machine-GUID barcode is printed out on the bend
print report.When check is OFF, part-GUID barcode is printed out on the
bend print report.

Tip: If the part does not have bending program or the part is saved SDD, part-
GUID barcode is printed out on the bend print report regardless check box
status

The reports layout can be edited.

Function for capturing an external file


How to set the external file reading function in the ABE Planner is explained.
A part name can be acquired in importing a custom format or the following three files by
the setting in ABE Planner.
1. Nesting Information
2. Process order file Information
3. Production arrangement file

Part retrieval destination server settings


Set a part retrieval destination server

Click [ Application menu].


Click [Option].

[Option Settings] dialog box is displayed.


Select [Data Load Settings(Bend)]-[Import Settings].

Set a part retrieval destination server name.


The server name set in the [Select Data] window can be selected.

vSDD import settings


The folder of the vSDD server is set. When performing this setting, the folder which is set
in the vSDD retrieval takes precedence.

Tick the "Specify vSDD import settings - folder" checkbox on.

Press the [ Reference] box to select a folder.

When pressing the [OK] button, the folder is displayed in the folder name column.

Priority server settings


Retrieve or set a part prioritizing either the vSDD server or the SDD server.
Select a server to be prioritized in the prioritized server.

Press the [Apply] button.


Press the [OK] button.

External Input Custom Settings


It is set to read a custom format.
Select [Use custom format.] in the external input custom settings.

Select [Sample] from the input settings and press the [Editing] button.

Tips: Add button: Copy the selected custom format setting file.
Delete button: Delete the selected custom format setting file.
However, the format setting file of "AmadaFormat(Input)" cannot be
deleted.
The external input custom setting dialog is displayed.

Make settings corresponding to a file to be read.

Input Format Name


Change the custom format setting file name.

Start Line No.


Set a line at which file reading is started.

Quotation
Select a string quotes set to a file to be read.

Date Format
Select a date format set to a file to be read.

Delimiters
Select a delimiter set to a file to be read.

Output Columns
Select and add an item and an order of a record set to a file to be read from the list of all
items. In the list, an item of a record can be deleted and an order of a record can be
changed.

Click [ Save]

Settings are completed.

Development view updation detecting


Whether or not a design change is detected is set for the SDD-vSDD linked server or the
storage destination server when a part is called.

Tips: ‧It is necessary in advance to set the SDD-vSDD server in DX (Data


Explorer). For the setting method, see the DX parameter guide.

‧Set the storage destination server on the ABE Planner-[Storage


Destination Setting dialog] screen.

Click [ Application menu].


Click [Option].

[Option Settings] dialog box is displayed.


Select [Data Load Settings(Bend)]-[Development view updation detecting].

Set the checkbox ON

Check the update date of AP100/PCL server

When calling a part from the vSDD server, set whether or not to search for a new part with
the same name and update date from the search destination server.

Detecting the bend proccess data which older than part data.

Set whether or not a bending data which has been created before the design
change is detected.

Press the [Apply] button.

When calling a part from the AP100 / PCL server,
Set whether or not to search for parts with the same name for linked servers and storage
destination servers

Click [ Application menu].


Click [Option].

[Option Settings] dialog box is displayed.


Select [Data Load Settings(Bend)]-[Development view updation detecting].

Set the checkbox ON

Disable detecting the namesake part from vSDD server.

When calling a part from the AP100/PCL server, a part of the same name is not detected
for a linking server or a saving destination server.

Detecting namesake part in the exact vSDD forlder which the bending process saved

When calling a part from the AP100/PCL server, a part of the same name is not detected
only in a saving destination folder for a linking server or a saving destination server.

Section1 Create bend data on PD

This section explains the basic operation of starting the Production Designer (PD),
importing part data from DXF unfold data or SDD data, generating bend data on BEND CAM
and then saving the bend data into Data Explorer.

To execute auto plan to create bend data of the part explained in this chapter, [System
settings] and [Parameter setting] in chapter 1-1 “Initial setting after installation is required”.
Backup file of Parameter (UsersGuideParameterBackup.px2) which is set in parameter
setting is stored in VPSS 3i installation folder (Default Path: C: Program Files AMADA3i
UsersGuide SampleData)
By restoring the parameter from Parameter Explorer, the parameter comes to be available.
Regarding how to restore, refer the UsersGuide of Parameter Explorer.

Importing DXF Unfold Drawing・Creating Solid Model and


Saving

This section explains the basic operation flow of creating unfold diagrams with sheet metal
work attributes including bend line information from imported DXF unfold drawing.

Option Setting
Confirm the option setting to import file.

Click (Application menu)and select [ Option].


[Option setting] dialog box is appears.
Select [Common Settings], [Name Change Rules] on the tree, on left side.
The setting to replace underscore (_) with hyphen(-) is registered in [User Define
Rules].Confirm if [Change small letters to capital letters] of [System Rules] is Checked.

Tip: The File Name becomes the part’s name when importing 2D or 3D data,
however it is possible in [Name Change Rules] to convert or delete any
string of the file name when importing a file.

Start PD and Import DXF unfold drawing


Double click [ PD] to start from the desktop.

Click [ Import DXF/DWG] Files.

Tip: It is possible to import DXF/DWG data from (Application menu),


[ Import], [ Import DXF/DWG files].

Select Side_Plate_R-A.DXF in UsersGuide\SampleData folder under this application’s


installation folder (by default C:\Program Files\AMADA3i\) and click [Open].

Unfold drawing is imported.

Tip: You can confirm that name of loaded drawing is converted to SIDE-PLAT-
R-A as defined by the [Name Change Rules].
This name becomes part’s name when invoking Detect Unfold Diagram.

Graphics Area

Drawing List
Display the list of loaded drawing names. It is possible to switch the displayed drawing
in graphics area by selecting a different drawing name.
It is possible to delete a drawing by selecting the drawing name and pressing the
Delete key.
Graphics Area
Display the selected drawing in a graphics area.
It is possible to control the view by zoom in/out or selecting a drawing entity.
Mouse Button
The following features are assigned to the mouse button.
Left
It is used to pick an entity in the graphics area or select a menu button.
Right
Display shortcut menu. The shortcut menu changes according to the active command.
Center
It is possible to do a screen operation such as panning the drawing.

Graphics Control Toolbar


The Graphics Control Toolbar is the group of icons that are laid out at the upper center of
graphics area and control its view.

This mode selects a drawing element in graphics


area by the mouse left button. It is the default
Select mode when no command is selected. When any
command is ended, it automatically becomes the
selected mode.

Open filter panel. It is possible to hide or gray


Filter out drawing elements in each layer, line color or
line style.

Scroll drawing by dragging at up/down or


Pan left/right with mouse left button in the graphics

Extract unfold drawing


Extract unfold drawing with bend attributes from the imported drawing.

Click [ Detect Unfold Diagram].


[Detect Unfold Diagram] command page appears.
Select [SPC1.0] for [Material Name].
Confirm that [DEFAULT] has been selected for [Group]. Then, click the [Details] button.
[Unfold Diagram Detection Parameters] dialog box appears.
Line conversion parameter settings
Set the line conversion parameters. Set each parameter because line type of up/down
bending is different in the current case.
Set down bending as orange broken lines.
a) Click [Refer] button.
[Unfold Diagram Detection Parameters] dialog box disappears.
b) Click the bend line shown in the figure below.

Refer this line.

[Unfold Diagram Detection Parameters] dialog box appears and line style and line
color are displayed in it.

c) Click [ Add].
Line parameters are registered in the list.
d) Confirm parameters, [Material] is [SPC], [Thickness] is [1.0] and [Type] is [Bend
Line].
e) Set parameters of the bend line.
[Bend direction]: [Down]
[Angle]: 90
[I R]: 1 mm
[V]:6mm
[Bend type]:[V]
[Bend Deduction]: 1.8mm、[Out1]、[Both]

f) Click [ Add] then bend line properties are registered in the list.

In the same method, set Up bending to orange DashDotDot (except for bend direction, it is
same as the previous settings procedure).

Refer this line.

Click [ Apply] button,

Option Settings
Specify option settings of unfold diagram detection procedure.
Open [Options] tab in [Unfold Diagram Detection parameter] dialog box.
Set [Recognize Standard Hole] on, and set [Max Value] to 114mm.

Click [ Apply] button,

Click [ Close] button,


Returns back to [Detect Unfold Diagram] command page.

Execute unfold diagram detection

Click [ OK].
[ Method] tab is opened and unfold diagram is created.
You can confirm that each line is converted to bend lines as registered line
parameters.

Create solid mode


Right-click in the node of unfold drawing in [Production Tree], select [ Fold] from the
shortcut menu.

The solid model created from unfold drawing is displayed in the [3D Model] window.

Save to SDD
Open [Home] tab on the ribbon control menu, and click [Move to Method] button.

Save dialog box for SDD appears.
Select the desired folder and specify the document name, and click [Save] button.

It is possible to edit tooling like adding or deleting setup, tool selection, replacing tooling or
tool layout creation so on.

Click [ Tools] button. [Tool Selection] dialog is displayed.

Select [Amada] from two type of punch holders (Amada (One touch) / Wila (Moduler))
in [Manufacture].

Assign tools in order of die holder, die and punch.


Click the icon of die holder. Then registered die holders are displayed on the list. Click
name [08000] and click [Select] button.

Click each icon of die or punch and let them display on the list as same as die holder.
Click die name [07000], punch name [00470]. Then click [Select] button.

Tip: If more than the required number of punches and dies are selected while
the "Check Available" box is checked, the following confirmation dialog is
displayed. "Selected tool is over registration count. Is it OK to use this
setting?"
Tool layout is displayed with selected tools on [Tool layout view].

Part information/tool information


Part information/tool information displays the part information or tool information selected
in the graphics region. The information is different depending on the selection.

Pressing the icon will toggle between the display and non-display of information.

Similarly, the bend line information selected in the development view is displayed.

Adjust the bend line position


Adjust bend position for each bend process to correct position for tool layout. Pick the
bend line and click [ Align] button. Then click reference (e.g. left edge of tool) you want
to adjust.

Confirmation of Feasibility study

Check if there is collision in created program. Click [ Feasibility] tab in [Attribution]


Area and select [All stages] button.

Tip: "Current bends" of Process Feasibility can be automated. See "Chapter 3


Features and Edition - Features and Edition of BEND CAM - Processing
Feasibility for details.

In the case of collision there, message is displayed of each bend process. The part of
collision is displayed with red colored on the simulation by clicking the message.

Bend data Creation (In case of Auto generation)


Select [BCAM-HG1303] from [Machine Name] on the ribbon control menu.

Click [Auto] button on the ribbon control menu.

The auto bend process generation is executed and [Progress bar] dialog is displayed.

The auto process generation is completed, then [Progress bar] is closed and the result is
displayed.

Confirm of error detail


Click [Details] button on the ribbon control menu after auto process generation is
completed. Then it is possible to confirm contents of warning, the reason of failed or
collision portion.

[Error details] dialog is displayed. Click [Close] button on the [Detail result] dialog The
auto process generation is completed, then [Progress bar] is closed and the result is
displayed.

Save bend data


Open [Home] tab from the ribbon control menu and click [Save] button.

Tip: If more than the available number of punches and dies are used, the
following confirmation dialog is displayed. "Selected tool is over registration
count. Is it OK to save this program?"

Save bend processing data into AP100/PCL server


In the case that existing machine type (HDS, HD, ,HM, HFP, FMB2, FMB, FBD3, RGM2)
is set to [NC type] other than [AMNC 5.5 (connect vSDD)], bend processing data for the
machine can be saved into AP100/PCL server only.

Change the machine name to existing machine type name on [Machine name:] on upper
right side of [BEND CAM] window.
Open [Home] tab from the ribbon menu and click [Save] button

Tip: If more than the available number of punches and dies are used, the
following confirmation dialog is displayed. "Selected tool is over registration
count. Is it OK to save this program?"

[Save] dialog is displayed. Select [AP100/PCL server] folder and click [Save] button.
Then bend processing data is saved.

Move to “Method” window of PD


Open [Hone] tab on the ribbon control menu, and click [Move to Method] button.

[Save confirmation] dialog is displayed in case that [Yes] button is not selected after
editing on the BEND CAM.

Basic operation from importing AP100 PCLDATA, folding and saving are explained.

Importing PCLDATA
Click (Application menu), and select [Import], [PCLDATA].
Select B-BOX1-A.lzh in UsersGuide\SampleData\Unfold Drawings folder and click [OK].

Tip: Click (Application menu) and select [ Open] to call saved data
from SDD.Select parts name from [AP100/PCL server] folder on the
[Open] dialog in the case of loading data from [AP100/PCLserver]. Select
[Open] on the lower left of the dialog.

Unfold diagram is imported to the [Process] tab.

Right-click the node of unfold drawing in the [Production Tree], select [ Fold] from the
shortcut menu.

The solid model created from unfold drawing is displayed in the [3D Model] window.

Tip: Select [Fold] from [ Option], [Method Settings], [AP100 Import

Change the machine name to existing machine type name on [Machine name] on upper
right side of [BEND CAM] window.

Click [ Manual] button.

[Part Editor] window is displayed.

Hint: It is possible to edit bend data. In case of bend data edited, click [ Save]
button on the ribbon menu to save edit bend data.

Click [ Close] button after confirming.


[Part Editor] window is closed and [ABE Planner] window is displayed.
The check mark which means that this data is edited on [Manual] is displayed on [Part
List].

Print setup sheet


Click part to print the setup sheet on [Part List].

Click [ Print] button on the ribbon menu.

It is possible to save the current status of [Part List].
(Auto generation result, used tools, NG/Warning contents e.g.)

Click [ Function] on the ribbon menu and select [Result Save] from submenu.

[Save Result] dialog is displayed.

Enter [Result Name] and click [Save] button.

Hint: Result name can contain double-byte and half-width characters except the
following half-width characters: ¥, \, /, :, *, ?, ", <, >, |. Result
name should be less than or equal 50 characters.

Also,if pre-exist name is input, it is saved as overwrite.


Save Result is executed.
Hint: All data that has been read/undergone Auto Process Creation is saved as
result data.
The icon varies according to the type of the server in which the data is
saved.

Call Result

Click [ Function] on the ribbon menu and select [Result Call] from submenu.

[LoadResult] dialog is displayed.

When selecting a saved results file for the server icon you wish to call, you can click the
[Open] button to call the saved data from the selected server.

Hint : Select [Result Name] and click [Delete] button to delete already saved
[Result Name].

Delete Part List


Select part to delete from [Part List].

Hint: Select multiple parts by [Shift key] + [click] operation to execute [Delete]
for multiple parts. Besides, if you put mouse pointer on the Part List, right
click and select [Select all] from submenu. Then all parts on the Part List
will be selected.
Click [Delete] button on the ribbon menu.
[Confirmation] dialog is displayed. Click [Yes] button.

Selected parts are deleted from [Part List].

Close ABE Planner

Click [ Close] button on the upper right of ABE Planner window.

Automatic features by the ABE Planner (BEND)


This section will detail the three automatic functions offered by the ABE Planner (bend).

Auto for each selected part.


See the previous item, "Batch Processing by ABE Planner (Bend)" for an explanation
on the Auto functionality for each selected part.

Auto with specified tool layout (setup file reading)

Load the tool layout of the setup file to run the Auto function.
A sample setup file is stored in the "UsersGuide\SampleData" folder within the folder in
which VPSS 3i BEND is installed (C:\Program Files\AMADA3i by default)..

Click [ Production/Part] button on the ribbon menu.


Register a part name for B-BOX1-A from the SAMPLE folder on the [Data Calling] screen
and click the [Open] button.
The part name that has been called is displayed under [Part List] in the [ABE Planner].
Click the [Bend Settings] button on the ribbon menu.

Click the [Tool layout Specification] tab.

Check [Specify Tool Layout ].

Hint: Specifying a tool layout to run Auto (Setup File Reading) and specifying a
tool layout to run Auto (Repeat Data) cannot be used in combination.
The following dialog is displayed when checking [Specify Tool Layout]
while the tool layout specification is listed as repeat data.

Put the check of [Effective] of the priority order 1 to ON and then press the [File
Selection] button.

Select [TEST.xml] as the setup file in the UsersGuide\SampleData folder..

Hint:The readable files are [XML, BTS].


Click the [Open] button.
The tool layout of the imported file is displayed.
To change the tool layout to be used, press the [←/→] button.

Multiple setup files can be read to set the priority order of the tool layout. Repeat
procedures 7 to 10.(three files can be read)

If changing the priority order, select a line you want to change and press the [▲/▼] button.

Click the [OK] button.


When the Save and Confirm dialog is displayed, click the [OK] button.
The [Auto Condition] setting is saved and the [Bend Settings] dialog closes.
Select B-BOX1-A, then select [BCAM-HG1303] as the machine name and click the [Auto]
button.

Auto with specified tool layout (repeat data)


Use the repeat data tool layout to run Auto.
[TEST.vSDD] is stored as the sample part in the UsersGuide\SampleData folder within the
folder in which VPSS 3i BEND is installed (C:\Program Files\AMADA3i by default).
Register it for the DX (Data Explorer) in advance.

Click [ Production/Part] button on the ribbon menu.


Register a previously registered TEST and part name for B-BOX1-A from the SAMPLE
folder on the [Data Calling] screen and click the [Open] button.
The part name that has been called is displayed under [Part List] in the [ABE Planner].
Select and right-click on the TEST that is shown as [Repeat] on the [Part List].
Click [Tool Layout Specification].

It will be highlighted green.

Hint: Specifying a tool layout to run Auto (Setup File Reading) and Specifying a
tool layout to run Auto (Repeat Data) cannot be used in combination.
The following dialog is displayed when setting the tool layout specification
to repeat data while [Tool Layout Specification] is checked in BEND
settings.

Select a part to run Auto, select the machine name [BCAM-HG1303] and press the [Auto]
button.

Run the Auto Process Creation using the tool layout for the selected repeat part.

Hint: If the Auto Process Creation result obtained by running Auto (Setup
File)/(Repeat Data) after specifying a tool layout is "NG", the result varies
depending on the following settings in the [Tool Layout Specification] tab
on the ribbon menu [Bend Settings].

Add a new tool stage/tool setup without changing the checkboxes for each
stage length or the mounting position of the tool layout.

Full Auto Processing by ABE Planner(BEND)

This section explains the basic operation of full auto processing by the ABE
Planner(Bend).
When Fully Automatic is executed, a bend model file containing No bend data is
automatically
cquired from the SDD database and the Automatic Step Generation process carried out.
Auto Step Generation can be forcefully terminated by pressing [Cancel].
It is possible to carry out Step Generation for multiple machines.

Start ABE Planner

Double click [ ABE Planner] on the desk top.


[ABE Planner] window is displayed.

Process Option Setting


Click [Option] of [Bend Settings].

[Bend Settings] dialog is opened.


Set based on [Automation settings] and [Full-auto settings] of Chapter1 Initial Setting.

Carry out Full Auto


Click [Full Auto] on the ribbon menu [Full Auto] is carried out.

Hint: Setting and PCL Client is not installed, since the fully automatic button is
masked and displayed, it cannot be selected.

[Cancelling mode] dialog is displayed when [Cancel] button is clicked on the [Full Auto]
window.

Auto Step Generation of [Full Auto] is canceled forcefully, if a radio button is


selected on [Cancelling mode] and select [OK] button

Cancel running procedure:


Auto Step Generation process for current running procedure will be completed.

out.)

Stop countdown timer;


[Full Auto] process will be canceled. ([Full Auto] dialog is closed.)
Auto Step Generation process for parts after current running parts obtained
by Full Auto, will be carried out

Both of above:
Auto Step Generation process for current running procedure will be completed.
Auto Step Generation process for parts after current running parts obtained by
Full Auto, will not be carried out.
[Full Auto] process will be kept to run.
(In case that time is reached next time to obtain, Auto obtaining will be carried
out.)

Common Layout Generation by ABE Planner(BEND)

This section explains the basic operation of common layout generation by the ABE
Planner(Bend)
[Common Layout Generation] is the feature to create the bend data by auto bend process
generation using parts data, and generate common layout of multi station to bend up for
multiple parts as well.
It is possible to set detail setting for the grouping condition in the [Auto Process
Condition]-[08.Common Layout Group Condition], [09.Common layout repeat] of
PX(Parameter Explorer).
In case that the [Plan condition] in the [Auto Process Condition]-
[01.BendOrderComposition] of PX(Parameter Explorer) parameter is set to [Set up
bend], the [Common Layout] button on the ribbon menu is disabled and it is impossible
to execute [Common Layout].

Carry out Common Layout


Double click [ ABE Planner] on the desk top.
[ABE Planner] window is displayed.
Click [Bend] tab.

Register parts name of B-BOX1-A and BRACKET from SAMPLE folder on the

Select parts to create common layout on the [Part List], click [Common Layout] button
on the ribbon menu.

Hint: We recommend that the [Machine Name] for executing [Common Layout]
is used for the [Machine Name] only for common layout.
Hint: Select multiple parts by [Shift key] + [click] operation. Besides, if you put
mouse pointer on the Part List, right click and select [Select all] from
submenu. Then all parts on the Part List will be selected
Auto generation process is executed and [Progress bar] is displayed. Then the common
layout generation is executed.

Hint: Common layout can be terminated forcibly by clicking [Cancel] button.


When the Common Layout has finished, the results are displayed in [Part List] of
ABE_Planner.

Hint: The parts which [Common Layout group] values are same on the [Part
List], means that these parts are assigned on the same tool layout.

Editting common layout planning result


After common layout planning is executed, the CoLayout Group name of the part whose
planned result is NG can be renamed arbitrarily.

Select the part with NG result, and click the cell of CoLayout Group name for common
layout.Focus is set and now entering text is enabled.

Press [Enter]Key to complete entering after entering arbitrary CoLayout Group name.

Changing displaying order of the part


The displaying order of the part can be changed.
The order of the part printed in common layout bend print is same as the order displayed
in part list, but thanks to this function, printed order can be changed.
Select part to change its order in [Part list].

When [To one line down] is pressed, selected part is moved to one line below.

As same manner, order can be changed by each button as follows

Creates the bending schedule that a group of parts of the identical Common Layout group
is assigned to a processing machine, and also outputs the selected parts in the report of

② If selected part is in vSDD and target server to make bending schedule
is "SDD"
Select parts to set Quantity/Due on the [Data list] of [Bending Schedule] window, and
click [Quantity/Due] button.

Enter quantity and due date in [Quantity, Due Setting] window.

Hint: Enter quantity or due date if it is required.


If the check box of [Input Due] is set OFF, [Due] field is not displayed.
If the [Calendar ] button is selected, calendar is displayed. The date
can be specified for due date.The number of day from that date to due date
can be specified in the [ ] field.

Click [ OK] button on the [Quantity, Due Setting] window


Entered quantity and due are updated on the [Part List] of [Bending Schedule] window
Select parts for creating the Bending Schedule on the [Data list] of [Bending Schedule]
window.

Hint: Please confirm that all of the [Layout group] of parts to be selected are
the same group on the [Part List].
In case of multiple parts selected, select multiple parts by [Shift key] +

[Bending Schedule] window, all parts on the [Part List] will be selected.
Hint: When [Display all parts with production numbers specified] is checked
ON, all the parts whose production numbers are specified are displayed
without being collected.
Click [Bending Schedule] button.

Hint: It is necessary to pre-register the [Work Center Name] and [Machine


Name] of the bend process machine to execute the bending schedule..

For SDD: "master management" - "machine management" and "work


center management" on the [Data Management] screen of [AP 100/PCL
Server]

For vSDD: [Machine] tab - [Work Center]

Select [W/C Name (work center name)] to assign in [Machine Name List].

Click [Execution] button on the [Machine Name List] dialog.

Hint: The information of selected part will be printed out in [Bar Code/Program
List]. [Quantity] and [Due] that are input by the [Quantity, Due Setting]
feature will be printed out in [Delivery] and [Quantity] on the Common
Layout Setup Sheet. [Bending Schedule Name] and [Bending Schedule
Machine Name] will be printed out only when creating bending schedule
by checking the checkbox [Print out when bending schedule is made]. Data
will not be printed out in the other status.

If it is required to change the print order of the part, change the order at
part list by order change button and go to Bending Schedule screen.

Use GUID barcode of the machine

There are 2 types of barcode used in common layout for AMNC3i. One is GUID of the
machine and the other one is GUID of the parts.
Barcode loading process of Amnc3i BEND is different depends on the kind of barcode.

"Bend Print" is the function to print out program informaton created by VPSS 3i BEND.

A progress bar is displayed during printing.

Hint: Print is all up to MS Windows standard printer procedure. Therefore normal


print out from Windows should be available.

Eexternal file reading function ABE Plannerby ABE Planner


(BEND)
A part name can be acquired in importing a custom format or the following three files by
the setting in ABE Planner.

1.Parts name can be acquired from the result of nesting which is generated by nesting
module in BLANK. (Number of elements: 13)
2. Part name can be gotten from process order file (.csv) of APC21 which is a production
management system. (Number of elements: 72)
3. Parts names can be acquired from the product arrangement file (.ORD) which the
production management system "APC21" and "WILL" create (Number of elements: 9)

For the setting method, see Chapter 1 Basic Operation: Initial Settings-ABE Planner
Parameter Settings-External File Import Function.

Press [CSV File] button in the Ribbon Control menu.

Select a file from the Open dialog and press the [Open] button.

Hint: When a part which name is the same as a part selected from the Nesting
Information dialogue from the server set on a priority basis is retrieved for
its existence to be found, the part is displayed in the part list of the ABE
Planner.

When there is no relevant part in the vSDD server or the SDD server and
when there is no bend line in the selected part, the following dialogue is
displayed but it is not displayed in the part list of the ABE Planner.

Hint: The following data types can be loaded for each file.
In case of the SDD, if there is a "Part" with the same name, the "Part" shall
be given priority.

AiBEND Function allows you to extract your favorite Process settings from the repeat data
stored on your server and automatically reflect them when programming New products.

top of Edit.
Hint : Machine Name in Other is set to valid and is set to OFF. Machine Name
Sorted to the alphabetic N and initially displayed in Lower line (Machine Name

Setting the Actual Machine Name


If you do not register the actual Machine Name (AMNC, AMNC3i) with Machine register of
PX,
For searching Machine generated by AMNC3i or AMNC
Restrictions: Do not register ARBEND unit with the actual unit Machine Name.
Enter the actual device Machine Name to be searched in Machine Name field, select
"machine type", "Model", "Punch Holder Type", and "ATC", and then press "Register".

Hint: If you enter lower-case alphabetic characters in Machine Name, they will
be converted to upper-case alphabetic characters.
Hint: Delete to register a space at the beginning or end of Machine Name if it is
entered Now.
Hint: A space in Machine Name statement does not Delete and displays an error
message.
Hint: Press "Register" on a Status with more than 128 characters of Machine
Name If so, an error message is displayed.
Hint: Register on Status with a Machine Name that is duplicated with the
registered Machine name If pressed, an error message is displayed.
Hint: If you type the following four strings into Machine Name and press
Register,The error message code is indicated.

Specify bend sequence


Select bend line for each bend sequence on [2D flat view].

Click a bend line to specify bend sequence on [2D flat view].


The specified bend line is displayed with sky blue color.

Open [Home] tab from the ribbon control menu and decide bend sequence by click
[ Add] button.

Tip: The main command to be required for deciding bend sequence is displayed
by right clicking on [2D flat view]. It is possible to decide bend sequence
by clicking [ Add To the Sequence] button also.

The decided bend sequence is set the number of bend sequence for its bend line on [2D
flat view].

Tip: 1)If the [Quick Pick] on the ribbon control menu is set enabled, it is
possible to specify bend sequence alone with the order of pick bend line on
[2D flat view].

2)There are two patterns prepared as [Build Forward] bending from the
current step forward to the end of the process, and [Build Reverse]
bending from the current step backwards to the beginning of the process. It
is possible to select [ Build Forward] and [ Build Reverse] on the
ribbon control menu.

Click [ Exchange] on ribbon control menu.

Set the Bend process ID (From) and the Bend process ID (To), click [Move] button.

Bend line of Bend process ID (From) transfer to bend line of Bend process ID (To).
After moving the sequences between them will remain and shift.

Tips: 1)After sequence exchange/move, pull back value, idle timer, lower limit
parameter etc. will be recalculated.
2)After sequence exchange/move operation, bend tool stage and bend
position, pull back Y-axis (horizontal axis) may be not recalculated.
If it has to be changed please edit the back gauge position by [ Auto]
etc.

Delete bend sequence


There four types to delete the specified bend sequence.

[Clear All] deletes specified all bend sequence. Click [ Delete] on the ribbon control
menu and select [ Clear All] from submenu.

[Clear Forward] deletes the all bend sequence after the current step. Click [Delete] on the
ribbon control menu and select [ Clear Forward] from submenu.

[Clear Reverse] deletes the all bend sequence before the current step. Click [Delete] on
the ribbon menu and select [ Clear Reverse] from submenu.

[ All Reset] resets all the bend sequence and bend types like partial bend or hemming
bend, R-bend so on.

Change bend type (Partial bend)


Here explains how to set partial bend and how to delete it.

Click the bend line to add partial bend on the [2D flat view].
Select [Add] on the [Bend line Information] field of [Attribution] tab.

Partial bend process is added on [Bend Sequence] field. [Bend process] is separated to
two processes and first process is to be obtuse bend. The bend line is displayed by “A” on
[2D flat view].

Set partial bend angle and set bend step sequence.

Click bend line to delete partial bend on [2D flat view]. Then Click [Delete] button on [Bend
process] field, Partial bend step is deleted on [Bend Sequence] field.

Change bend type (R bend)


Here explains how to set R bend.

Click the bend line of RR bend (Step bend) or FR bend (Step bend) on the [2D flat view].
RR bend (Step bend) or FR bend (Step bend) is decided based on the number of count
set by [Count] on [Attribution] tab.
RR bend (Step bend) or FR bend (Step bend) is switched on the [2D flat view].

[Count] on [Attribution] tab is calculated automatically based on the number of count set
in [Pitch] field.

Change bend type (Hemming bend)


Here explains how to set Hemming bend.

Click the bend line of hemming bend on the [2D flat view].
Two processes are displayed on the [Bend Sequence] field on [Attribution] tab. Fist
process will be acute bend.
Click [Add] button on the [Bend Sequence] field on [Attribution] tab.

Three processes are displayed on the [Bend Sequence] field on [Attribution] tab.

The bend angle for added process is calculated automatically and it is displayed
on[BendAngle] field It is possible to edit the bend angle.
Click [Remove] button on [Bend Sequence] field. Then added process can be deleted

Change Bend Type(Z Bend)


This section explains about Z Bend setting.
Bend deduction is not re-calculated when bend lines are grouped as Z Bend.
(original bend deduction is used even after grouping.)
If re-calculation of bend deduction is required, assign Z Bend to those bend lines in PD.
The attribute can be changed to Z Bend only when bend line which up bend and down
bend continues on [Flat View].

Go to [Home] tab, select [Group]- [Grouping]

Click the bend line which up bend and down bend continues on [Flat View].

Go to [Home] tab, select [Group]- [Done]

Here explains how to set Coning bend.
Coining setting is possible for HG, EG, HFE3i machine types only.

In case of setting coining for all bend lines of V-bend, open [Home] tab from the ribbon
ontrol menu and click the [ Coining] button.
“C” is displayed of all bendlines of V-bend on the [2D flat view].

In case of setting coining bend for all bendlines of V-bend, click bendline of V-bend and
click [ Coining] button on [Attribution] tab.

C” is displayed of all bendlines of V-bend on the [2D flat view].

If [ Coining] button on [Attribution] tab is clicked again, it will return back to V-bend.

Tips: In case of adding the process on [Bend Sequence] field after setting to
[Coining bend], added process is set to normal V-bend (Air bend) and final
process only is set to [Coining bend]. Then, “AC” is displayed for the
bendline on the [2D flat view].

Adjusting the Bend Line Position


There are two methods for adjusting the position of a bend line such as coordinates setting
and the position of bend line setting.
You can adjust the position of bend line by entering new coordinates in the Location box in
the [Attribution] tab. You can enter/view coordinates for 3 base positions – the left edge,
right edge and center of the selected bend line.
Press the ENTER key after entering the coordinates to move the bend line to its new
position.

You can align a selected bend line with the position of another tool positionSelect a bend
line in the [Tool layout view] and click [ Alignment] button on the ribbon control menu
or right click menu .Move the cursor to the left edge, center or right edge of the tool that
you want to align with and click.

f you had previously entered a value in the [Offset] box and select
[ Alignment] button of [Home] tab, you would still be able to move the bend ne to the
position offset by the entered amount.

Grouping Bend Lines


You must group bend lines if you want to have several of them in one step.
(Bend lines that have the same bend direction on the same straight line are automatically
grouped when the unfold drawing is created.)
And it is possible to change the bend type to Z-bend if you make group selecting a set of
colinear two bend lines of different bend direction.

Open [Home] tab from the ribbon control menu, and click [Grouping] button from the
submenu of [Group] button.

In the [2D flat view area] select the bend line that you want to group. You can select
several bend lines by holding down the CTRL key.

When you have finished selecting the bend lines, select [Done] button on the ribbon
control menu.

Tips:Grouping process will be canceled if you select [Cancel]button.


The bend lines are grouped and now form one step.

Tips:Grouping the bend type will clear the bend sequence after the current step.

Ungrouping Bend Lines


When normal parts data has been loaded, bend lines with the same bend direction on the
same straight line are treated as one step.
If you want to process them as separate steps, you must divide the process by dividing the
bend lines.
And it is possible to divide Z-bend into two V-bends by ungrouping.
If you ungroup for Z-bend that have the same bend direction on the same straight line,
Z-bend will not be divided with dividing only bend lines that have the same bend direction
on the same straight line.

Open [Home] tab from the ribbon control menu, and click [Ungroping] button from the
submenu of [Group] button.

In the [2D flat view area] select the bend lines that you want to divide.
(The color of the selected bend lines changes to sky blue.)

When you have finished selecting the bend lines, select [Done] button on the ribbon
control menu.

Tips:If [Cancel] button is selected, [Grouping] process will be canceled.


The bend line is divided up and each new bend line can be set as a separate step.

Click bend line to assign tool on the [2D flat view].
The selected bend line is displayed with sky blue color.

3) If the check mark is OK for [Multiple Stage] on the [Tool Selection]


window, tool length is assigned to each bend line in the case of multiple
bend line to be bent up is included in one bend process.

4) Single tool (S/L) length can be set in the case of assigning feasible
punch or die length for bend line length automatically.
Sectionalized tool length is not assigned in the case of selecting [No

5) Tool length is assigned without using ear punch tools in the case of
punch length assigned for bend length automatically.
Ear tools are not assigned in the case of selecting [No Ear punch] on the

the case of ear tools assigned automatically.

6) If check mark is ON for [Auto screening] of the [Tool Selection]


window, filtered tools by v-width set in part data or Inner R and the
information of die holder attached to selected so on will be displayed on the
tool list field.
Besides, the tools to be displayed are changed due to bend type also. In
the case that v-width is not set in part data, the v-width calculated
automatically is displayed.

Tool setup setting


There are two tool step methods in a process - Multi Station mode and Set Up mode.
In Set Up mode you have to set (add) the tooling layout (setup) for each step.

Go to the process to do setup change by [ Bend Forward] button or [ Bend


Reverse] button on the [Sequence toolbar].

Open [Tooling] tab from the ribbon control menu and select [ Add setup] button. [Input
Setup Name dialog] is displayed.

Set an arbitrary setup name to add on [Setup Name] field.


In the case of creating setup by copy from already existed setup, specify the setup on the
[Copy From] field.
Check ON for [Do Not Copy Setup] in the case of creating newly setup without copy from
already exist setup.
Select [Confirm] button, then [Input Setup Name dialog] is closed and the [Setup] field
of the ribbon control menu is displayed with changed to the added setup name.

In the case of setup copied, the copied tool setup is displayed on the [tool layout view].

Tips: If compliant NC is AMNC_V3 or AMNC_V4, AMNC_V5the processing data


with 10or more setups can’t be saved.
If NC is AMNC3i 99 processing data that are specified can be saved.

Tool Replacement

Click tool to replace on [3D graphic view] or [Tool layout view] and select [
Replace] button on [Tooling] tab. Then [Tool Selection] dialog is displayed.
Select [Select] button after specifying tool to replace.

following confirmation dialog is displayed. "Selected tool is over registration
count. Is it OK to save this program?"

Moving/Deleting a Tool
Select the tool that you want to move by clicking it on [3D graphic view] or [Tool layout
view].

The selected tool is deleted if you select [ Delete] button on [Tooling] tab.
It is possible to move the tool anywhere by mouse dragging or by entering the value in
[Base Line] field on [Attribute].

Changing/Adjusting Tool Length


Select the tool you want to change on the [3D graphic view] or [Tool layout view].
Adjust the length by replacing segment length on [Attribute].

The segment lengths displayed on right side are the segment lengths used in the current
specified tool layout.
It is possible to delete the segment length by selecting a segment length and
clicking [Remove] button.
The segment lengths displayed on left side are the segments to be able to add to the
current specified tool layout.
It is added to right field by selecting segment length you want to add.

When so-called dragging and moving the backgauge in the Y-axis direction or inputting a

Confirmation of the simulation


The simulation of the process from current step forward to the end process can be done
by [ Run Forward] of [Sequence toolbar].
The simulation of the process from current step backwards to be beginning of the process
can be done by [ Run Reverse] of [Sequence toolbar].

UnBend One/Bend One confirmation


It is possible to confirm the Unbend One / Bend One for each bend process.

Go to the bend process to confirm by [ Go to the Next] or [ Go to the Previous] of


[Sequence toolbar].

The status of after bend is displayed by [ Bend One] of [Sequence toolbar], and the
status of before bend is displayed by [ Unbend One].

Set simulation speed

Save Program

Program is saved when exit from BendCAM. It is possible to save the complete program or
the program in the middle of creation.

Click on [ Save] button on ribbon menu to save process data.

Hint: In the case that [NC type] of the process machine is set to [AMNC 5.5
(connect vSDD)] or [AMNC_3i] the data are saved into [vSDD].
If the process machine [NC type] is set to the [NC type] other than the case
above, the data are saved into [SDD].
In the case that Option->Common Setting in [Production Designer ]-
>[Unique DB setting]->[Save BMF when BendCAM save AMNC3i process
data to VSDD] (About the detailed information of the parameter, please

Select [Save] button after select the folder to save and data name.

Save after move to method tab


After creating the program, click on [Move To Method] menu on ribbon control menu.

The dialog box is displayed. Select [Yes]. Program is saved.

Process machine of the saved data is displayed in right top of ribbon menu of BendCAM
view. Usually the machine name selected on the Main window is displayed. Please
change the machine name here in the case of using same tool setup in the different
machine.

Save tool layout data


It is possible to save tool layout information separately from the process data.

Open [Tooling] tab from the ribbon control menu, and select the [ Save].

In the dialog box that appears enter the file name and the location where you want to save
it.

Tips: If multiple layouts have been set up, all of them will be saved.
(You cannot save only the displayed layout.)

Exit BendCAM
The operation to quit BendCAM is explained.
You can move to method tab of Production Designer to quit BendCAM.

Process Time Settings


These are parameters for calculating the estimated time of bend process per part.
There are four categories: "For calculating the estimated time of bend process", "Material
Handling Parameters", "Estimation time of setup" and "Compensation confirmation".
Estimated process time is calculated using the bend data for the selected "machine
name", but
alculation is possible even if there is no bend data.
Bend Process

Double click [ Parameter Explorer] on desktop to start Parameter Explorer


The [Parameter Explorer] window is displayed.
Select [01. Bend Process] from the [Process Time Settings] menu.

Set the following conditions according to the actual operation.

Calculate the estimation time of process after auto/manual processing finishes

I If this item is checked, the estimated processing time per part is calculated after
automatically or manually creating the bend data.
By default, this item is checked.

Compensation value for switching machine axis operation

Sets the compensation time when switching between D-axis, L-axis and Y-axis operation.
The default value is 0.5 [sec].
Setting range: 0.10 to 9999.99 [sec]

Specified Backgauge Time

Sets the total time of the backgauge operation for each bend process.
The default value is 0.5 [sec].
Setting range: 0.10 to 9999.99 [sec]

Work Loading/Unloading

Time for loading a work

Sets a time for loading a part at the first process.The default value is 0.5 [sec].
Setting range: 0.10 to 9999.99 [sec]

Time for unloading a work

Sets a time for unloading a part at the final process.


The default value is 0.5 [sec].
Setting range: 0.10 to 9999.99 [sec]

Process-time per bend


Sets the process time per process for each bend type.

V-bend (In case that bend process data is not used)

Sets the process time per process of V-bend bendline if bend data is not set, or if bend
data is incomplete.
The default value is 6.5 [sec].
Setting range: 0.10 to 9999.99 [sec]

Hemming double deck

Sets the total time for the acute-angle bend and the flattening bend for a hemming
bendline.
The default value is 13.0 [sec].
Setting range: 0.10 to 9999.99 [sec]

RR-bend

Sets the total process time per process for a bendline using an R-bend Punch.
The default value is 6.5 [sec].
Setting range: 0.10 to 9999.99 [sec]

Step-bend

Sets the total process time per step for a bendline with FR-bend.
The number of steps for a FR bend is determined using the value set in the bend data,
or if no bend data is set, it is automatically calculated from [Thickness] and [Inner-R].
The default value is 3.0 [sec].
Setting range: 0.10 to 9999.99 [sec]

Z-bend

Sets the total process time per process for a Z-bend bendline.
The default value is 6.5 [sec].
Setting range: 0.10 to 9999.99 [sec]

Set the parameters to calculate the material handling time from the previous step to the

Size Table

The material handling time for each size is categorized into eight levels from A to H,
according to the parts size (width/depth) after pre-process bending.

Size Setting: Sets switchover sizes for categorization.


The default values are 300.0, 500.0, 1000.0, 1500.0, 10000.0 [mm].
Setting range: 0.0 to 10000.0 [mm]
Categorization Setting: Categorized according to size. (Selection type)

Setting range: A to H

Time Table

Sets the material handling time according to the part size and the material handling
method from the previous step to the current step.

The material handling method is categorized into twenty-four methods as shown below.
The size is categorized into the eight sizes in the size table mentioned above.

holder type of the selected machine.

If the selected punch holder type is [AMADA]


Sets the parameters for calculating the tool setup time if the punch holder type is
[AMADA].

Select [03. Tool setup] from the [Process Time Settings] menu.

Default value is 35.0 seconds.
Setting range is between 0.1 and 9999.99 seconds.

A setup time in case that bend process data is not used

confirmation time.

Select [04. Estimation time of setup] from the [Process Time Settings] menu.

Estimation time of compensation per bend

Set the estimated compensation time of flange dimension and bend angle per bend (one
step).
Default value is 45.0 seconds.
Setting range is between 0.1 and 9999.99 seconds.

Estimation time of confirmation per bend

Set the estimated confirmation time of flange dimension and bend angle per bend (one
step).
Default value is 10.0 seconds.
Setting range is between 0.1 and 9999.99 seconds.
