Chapter 1
Initial Setting
This chapter will describe initial settings such as System, Material, Machine, Tool and how
to create the backup file which is required after installation.

System settings
The System Settings control the whole VPSS 3i BEND environment, which is explained as
follows.
To Access the System Settings
[Option Settings]
Double click [ ProductinDesigner] at desktop.
[Production Designer ] window is displayed.

This option can be setting the language and units (mm/inch) for the whole system
environment.
[System settings]
Specify [Behavior] at [System Settings].
Select language for VPSS 3i BEND from list of [Current Setting] drop down menu.
Please confirm the current language.

The Values for Length Significant Digit and Angle Significant Digit are to control the
number of places to be displayed to the right of decimal point.
Click [Apply].
Click [OK].
Tips: [Language Setting] and [Display Unit] are unified information for the
complete VPSS 3i BEND application.

Parameter Setting
Here explains on the registration of materials, machines and tools.
This explanation is required for the part which auto plan is executed in “Chapter2-1
General Operation - Create bend data on BEND CAM – Bend Data loading, creation and
saving per bend type”.
Backup file of Parameter (UsersGuideParameterBackup.px2) which is set in parameter
setting is stored in VPSS 3i installation folder (Default Path: C:\Program
Files\AMADA3i\UsersGuide\SampleData)
By restoring the parameter from Parameter Explorer, the parameter comes to be available.
Regarding how to restore, refer the UsersGuide of Parameter Explorer.

Tool Setting
Here explains how to register new tools and how to create new tool group.
This explanation is required for the part which auto plan is executed in “Chapter2-1

Open Punch holder setting window by clicking [Registered bend tool]-[Punch holder].
Tips: Entry Master has multiple tools. Please select tools on [Entry Master]
correctly.
Select [Punch]、[Die]、[Die holder] 、[Die block] 、[Gage]-[Gage tip] and register
following tools as same as punch holder.

Select [HG] from [Type], and enter [BCAM-HG1303] for [Machine Name].

Tips: When the default setting is [DHL/DBK], if the default setting is ON, DHL or
DBK can be selected and the division length to be used can be set.
The dividing length registered in the mold tab can be set.

Tips 1: The initial parameters for [AutoProcess Condition] are almost specified
except [BendOrderComposition-Main-Tool DB Name].
Please specify the [BendOrderComposition-Main-Tool DB Name] when
newly machine is registered.
Tips 2: [BendOrderComposition – Main – Tool DB Name] can not be set if Tool
DB Name is not registered. In advance, register Tool DB Name from
[ToolTab – Bending tool – Bend tool priority].
Set the checkbox ON for [selecting tool that V-Bend is regarded as coining bend].
Tips: If the checkbox of [selecting tool that V-Bend is regarded as coining bend]
is set to ON, the feasible tools for coining bends will be selected for V-bend
bendlines automatically on the [Auto] feature of [BendCAM] or [ABE
Planner].

Displaying and saving action on ABE Planner for warning bend program
When Planning Result is Warning data, set whether or not to save ABE Planner's Result
field and bending data according to Warning content.
When checked OFF, OK (Warning) is displayed for all Warning and bending data is not
saved.
Each detailed item(Displaying OK and saving cannot be set for all Warning.)
Tips: Even if you select "Save with OK", if you have selected to save Warning file
for the reason that the file cannot be bended, "OK (Warning)" will be
displayed in ABE Planner's Result field.

Click [ Save]
Tips: For dies registered in the mold tabs, add the length and the number of dies
is AITS.
The number is updated by comparing the server with the current
registration status.

Restore parameter
The following steps explain the procedure to restore the Parameter Data.
Restore backup file for all [Parameter Explorer].

Tips: Based on the method to Close the application, the invocation time differs
and explained as following.
・While closing the application by [ Close] button, application was not
closed from memory. Thus quick invocation is enabled.
・When close application by [Exit Application] at [ Application Menu]
, application is completely closed from the memory.
Invocation time will be increased than closed by. [ Close] button.

Double click [ ABE Planner] on the desktop.
[ABE Planner] window is displayed.

Select the computer name of vSDD server in [Destinate server name:]to save loading
data from SDD(AP100/PCLserver). Selections in the drop down menu are same to the
vSDD server set in [Data selection] window.
Check [Save Destination Specification] and click the [ Reference Button] in [Save

Automation Settings
Here explains on the settings of [Limit time of DrAbe-Auto.] or the settings of machine
names to generate bend data by Auto process generation.
Click the [Bend Settings] button under [Option] on the ribbon menu..
Tip: In case that Auto process generation is not completed within [Limit time of
DrAbe-Auto.], the Auto process generation will move to execute for next
parts or next machine name by force.
Set[Run DrAbe-Auto on the specified machines]

Tip: In case that [Run DrAbe-Auto on the specified machines] is checked and Auto
process generation is executed, bending data is generated for machine
names which are checked on [Auto run] of [Automatic processing of Multiple
machines] as next operation.
Set [Automatic processing of Multiple machines]
Set check for [Auto run] of machine name to execute automatic processing for multiple
machines.
Tip: In the [Full Auto] feature, bending data is generated for the machine name
of [Auto run] checked. Please set [Automatic processing of Multiple
machines] certainly in case of [Full Auto] feature used.
Click [ OK] button on the lower right side of [Bend Settings] window.
[Auto settings] is saved and [Bend Settings] dialog is closed.

Full-auto Settings
Here explains on the settings of [Full-auto settings] settings to execute [Full-auto]
feature on the ABE Planner.
Acquisition server vSDD/SDD can be selected.
Click the [Bend Settings] button under [Option] on the ribbon menu.

Interval
An interval value for acquiring a bend model file (only SDD) or a part data from the
acquisition server vSDD/SDD.
(It is the setting if bend model file is obtained by every minutes. For example, in the case
of setting 15 minutes, BMF files which is created during 15 minutes from the last obtained
time will be obtained.)
Destinate date:
Specifies the date and time to save a bend model file (only SDD) that is targeted for
cquirement
Obtain the targeted file generated after the specified date and time.
Tip: In Server/Client environment, if the time of PC that Save/Refresh parts data
is set different to the PC in which VPSS 3i BEND is installed, the timing to
load parts data from the vSDD/SDD will be delayed even unable to load the
parts data. The problem can be solved by setting client PC accord to the
server PC time

Check ON if it is required to get data by specified condition which are filtered by [Folder]
or [Material name].
When this check is turned ON, Filter Type is enabled. Default state is OFF.

This checkbox should be checked in case that [ABE Planner] should be started
up automatically in the ‘Full Auto Generation” mode when logging on. This item is set to
OFF by default.
Click [ OK] button on the lower right side of [Bend Settings] window .
[Full-auto settings] is saved and [Bend Settings] dialog is closed.

● Reports of Bending
Output: Sets whether the bending setup sheet should be output or not.
TypeSelects a type of the bending setup sheet to output from the following two versions
●Standard
Outputs standard bending setup sheet
●Detailed(With Gaging View)
Outputs the bending setup sheet with the backgauge indicating view. A backgauge
indicating view is output fo each process, so number of the setup sheets will
increase,but it is possible to set whether a setup sheet is output for each
type or not, in the field “Detailed(With Gaging View”.)
● Reports of Bending line
Output:Sets whether the bendline information should be output or not.
Settings:Selects a condition for outputting the bendline information.
●Normal
Print always.
●With processing data
Print if the parts have bend program.
●Without processing data
Print if the parts have no bend program.

●Inverse color while print the single view drawing
The image of 3D will be printed by reversing the colors by checking this
checkbox. Please choose one that is easy to see as you like.
●The color of tools(the displaying color that the tool manager specified)
The tools of he tool layout will be made into the colored print by checking
this checkbox. The tool is drawn by the display color set up by the
[Bending tool] of [Parameter Explorer].
●Display punch-holder-the info of tool layout
The information of the punch holder will be added to the [Tool layout]

process creation without changing each stage length and mounting position of the tool

newly add the tool setup and perform the auto process creation without changing each

General Operation
This section explains the basic operation of starting the Production Designer (PD),
importing part data from DXF unfold data or SDD data, generating bend data on BEND CAM
and then saving the bend data into Data Explorer.
To execute auto plan to create bend data of the part explained in this chapter, [System
settings] and [Parameter setting] in chapter 1-1 “Initial setting after installation is required”.
Backup file of Parameter (UsersGuideParameterBackup.px2) which is set in parameter
setting is stored in VPSS 3i installation folder (Default Path: C: Program Files AMADA3i
UsersGuide SampleData)
By restoring the parameter from Parameter Explorer, the parameter comes to be available.

[Common Layout Generation] is the feature to create the bend data by auto bend process
generation using parts data, and generate common layout of multi station to bend up for
multiple parts as well.
It is possible to set detail setting for the grouping condition in the [Auto Process
Condition]-[08.Common Layout Group Condition], [09.Common layout repeat] of
PX(Parameter Explorer).
In case that the [Plan condition] in the [Auto Process Condition]-
[01.BendOrderComposition] of PX(Parameter Explorer) parameter is set to [Set up
bend], the [Common Layout] button on the ribbon menu is disabled and it is impossible
to execute [Common Layout].

List]. [Quantity] and [Due] that are input by the [Quantity, Due Setting]
feature will be printed out in [Delivery] and [Quantity] on the Common

Machine Name] will be printed out only when creating bending schedule
by checking the checkbox [Print out when bending schedule is made]. Data
will not be printed out in the other status.

machine and the other one is GUID of the parts.

Bend sequence
Here explains how to set or delete bend sequence and how to edit.
Open [Home] tab from the ribbon control menu and decide bend sequence by click
[ Add] button.
Tip: The main command to be required for deciding bend sequence is displayed
by right clicking on [2D flat view]. It is possible to decide bend sequence
by clicking [ Add To the Sequence] button also.

The decided bend sequence is set the number of bend sequence for its bend line on [2D
flat view].
Tip: 1)If the [Quick Pick] on the ribbon control menu is set enabled, it is
possible to specify bend sequence alone with the order of pick bend line on
[2D flat view].
2)There are two patterns prepared as [Build Forward] bending from the
current step forward to the end of the process, and [Build Reverse]
bending from the current step backwards to the beginning of the process. It
is possible to select [ Build Forward] and [ Build Reverse] on the
ribbon control menu.

Exchange/Move sequence.
There are 2 methods to exchange the sequences
Set the Bend process ID (From) and the Bend process ID (To), click [Swap] button.

Bend line of Bend process ID (From) transfer to bend line of Bend process ID (To).
After moving the sequences between them will remain and shift.
Tips: 1)After sequence exchange/move, pull back value, idle timer, lower limit

2)After sequence exchange/move operation, bend tool stage and bend
position, pull back Y-axis (horizontal axis) may be not recalculated.
If it has to be changed please edit the back gauge position by [ Auto]

[Clear All] deletes specified all bend sequence. Click [ Delete] on the ribbon control
menu and select [ Clear All] from submenu.
[Clear Forward] deletes the all bend sequence after the current step. Click [Delete] on the
ribbon control menu and select [ Clear Forward] from submenu.
[Clear Reverse] deletes the all bend sequence before the current step. Click [Delete] on
the ribbon menu and select [ Clear Reverse] from submenu.

[ All Reset] resets all the bend sequence and bend types like partial bend or hemming
bend, R-bend so on.

Select [Add] on the [Bend line Information] field of [Attribution] tab.
Partial bend process is added on [Bend Sequence] field. [Bend process] is separated to
two processes and first process is to be obtuse bend. The bend line is displayed by “A” on
[2D flat view].
Click bend line to delete partial bend on [2D flat view]. Then Click [Delete] button on [Bend
process] field, Partial bend step is deleted on [Bend Sequence] field.

Click the bend line of RR bend (Step bend) or FR bend (Step bend) on the [2D flat view].
RR bend (Step bend) or FR bend (Step bend) is decided based on the number of count
set by [Count] on [Attribution] tab.

[Count] on [Attribution] tab is calculated automatically based on the number of count set
in [Pitch] field.

In case of setting coining for all bend lines of V-bend, open [Home] tab from the ribbon

“C” is displayed of all bendlines of V-bend on the [2D flat view].

Tips: In case of adding the process on [Bend Sequence] field after setting to
[Coining bend], added process is set to normal V-bend (Air bend) and final
process only is set to [Coining bend]. Then, “AC” is displayed for the
bendline on the [2D flat view].

You can align a selected bend line with the position of another tool positionSelect a bend
line in the [Tool layout view] and click [ Alignment] button on the ribbon control menu
or right click menu .Move the cursor to the left edge, center or right edge of the tool that
you want to align with and click.
f you had previously entered a value in the [Offset] box and select
[ Alignment] button of [Home] tab, you would still be able to move the bend ne to the
position offset by the entered amount.

submenu of [Group] button.
In the [2D flat view area] select the bend line that you want to group. You can select
several bend lines by holding down the CTRL key.

Tips:Grouping the bend type will clear the bend sequence after the current step.

Moving/Deleting a Tool
Select the tool that you want to move by clicking it on [3D graphic view] or [Tool layout
view].
The selected tool is deleted if you select [ Delete] button on [Tooling] tab.
It is possible to move the tool anywhere by mouse dragging or by entering the value in
[Base Line] field on [Attribute].
The segment lengths displayed on right side are the segment lengths used in the current
specified tool layout.
It is possible to delete the segment length by selecting a segment length and
clicking [Remove] button.
The segment lengths displayed on left side are the segments to be able to add to the
current specified tool layout.
It is added to right field by selecting segment length you want to add.

Select a tool you wish to correct in the [3D] view or the [Tool Layout] view.
Press [Acc.] in the [Tooling] tab.

This section will detail the basic operation of Auto Process Creation and Semi-auto
Process Creation using bend CAM.

Automatic Step Generation is executed and a progress bar dialog will be displayed. If click

After Automatic Step Generation is completed, a progress bar dialog will be closed and
the result will be displayed.

The back gauge position is decided when bend sequence is specified automatically. The
back gauge position can adjust manually in the case of change the back gauge position.

[Attribution] after click the finger on [2D flat view] or [3D graphics view].

Save Program
Program is saved when exit from BendCAM. It is possible to save the complete program or
the program in the middle of creation.
Save Program
Hint: In the case that [NC type] of the process machine is set to [AMNC 5.5
(connect vSDD)] or [AMNC_3i] the data are saved into [vSDD].
If the process machine [NC type] is set to the [NC type] other than the case
above, the data are saved into [SDD].
In the case that Option->Common Setting in [Production Designer ]-
>[Unique DB setting]->[Save BMF when BendCAM save AMNC3i process
data to VSDD] (About the detailed information of the parameter, please
refer to the Production Designer help) is ON, the data saved by AMNC3i
machine can be loaded by AMNC Ver5.5.
In the case that current creating program is not saved in vSDD, the [Data File Save
dialog] is displayed.
Select [Save] button after select the folder to save and data name.
Part data and program is saved in the selected folder.
