bargaining. After the negotiation proper, the next stage would be the EXECUTION.
The agreement so prepared is then sent to the laborers and management for its
ratification and approval. Since the representatives of both the parties may not have the
ultimate or full authority to decide on some issues referred to and included in the
collective bargaining agreement presented, these need to be ratified by both the
parties. Ratification shall be discussed by the other reporters.
The agreement becomes official once it is put into writing, approved, ratified,
and signed by the labor and management representatives.
After it is all official, the union members and members of the management shall
all receive copies of the agreement or contract. The agreement stipulates in formal
terms the nature of the relationship between labour and management for the ensuing
period of time as agreed in negotiation.
Once an agreement is ratified and approved, the CBA can now be implemented
and executed. The way it will be implemented is usually indicated in the agreement
itself. It is important to note that once a CBA is reached, both the employer and the
union are required to abide by that agreement. Therefore, the agreement must be
implemented with full compliance in terms of the stipulations indicated and spirit by
both the parties from the date of its operation as mentioned in the agreement.
