Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com Thing is, every time I had to focus on the two main characters, the noticeable holes in all of this started to grow bigger and become more bothersome. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 22, 2017 Full Review Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald It's an enjoyable mess. Like all modern fantasy based on computer-generated technique, it confuses movement and action. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 16, 2017 Full Review Stephen Romei The Australian Besson loves messing around with time and space. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 11, 2017 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies ...a nearly 140 minutes slog through poor storytelling, boring characters, laughably bad dialogue, and CGI overload. Rated: 1.5/5 Aug 21, 2022 Full Review Fletcher Powell KMUW - Wichita Public Radio If you’d asked me ... if it would matter that I’d spend a good three-quarters of a movie having no idea what was going on, I would have said: Yes. Yes, that would matter. But that was before I’d seen Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Jun 21, 2022 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review The outcome here is uneven: admirable for its ambition and mindless entertainment value, unable to hold up under close scrutiny, and often dazzlingly beautiful. Gregory Beautiful special effects. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/07/21 Full Review Anderson O Visually gorgeous and smooth to look at, Valerian starts very exceptional in world building, massive and overly complex in scale, but plot and main characters are paper thin and don’t bring much debt to the table. At the end I couldn’t care less for this movie. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/01/24 Full Review Sam B This movie is well worth watching. Truly, it's spectacular special effects and solid source material carry a sometimes lackluster cast and iffy screenwriting across the finish line. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/16/24 Full Review Astramar Rhamiel H This was absolutely a stunning movie, loved every minute of it... and whoever says they didn't understand what was going on, that's simple, really, couldn't have dumber audience at that. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/14/24 Full Review Stefan F I knew nothing about the film before watching it, and found it's as an action-packed story of a government's ace agent learning to do the right thing under the influence of his partner in the service. Acted and filmed well. A great sort of Knightly story which we don't see often enough anymore. The film suffered for a lack of time to expand on some elements (Bubble). However, overall I would liken this most to The Fifth Element; but where the stakes aren't universal, and the lead characters speak the same language. It's a space opera for the family. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/08/24 Full Review Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/14/24 Full Review Read all reviews
