Visually gorgeous and smooth to look at, Valerian starts very exceptional in world building, massive and overly complex in scale, but plot and main characters are paper thin and don’t bring much debt to the table. At the end I couldn’t care less for this movie.

I knew nothing about the film before watching it, and found it's as an action-packed story of a government's ace agent learning to do the right thing under the influence of his partner in the service. Acted and filmed well. A great sort of Knightly story which we don't see often enough anymore. The film suffered for a lack of time to expand on some elements (Bubble). However, overall I would liken this most to The Fifth Element; but where the stakes aren't universal, and the lead characters speak the same language. It's a space opera for the family.
