In Portorosso its inhabitants are against what they call sea monsters. Conversely, the creatures that live under the sea call humans monsters above. So, that world is divided in two microcosms that show that everything depends on the point of view.

I loved the story, the characters, the look, the music and the cool references to Italian cinema in the 50s in "Luca". You don't have to be Italian to love this movie but it doesn't hurt!

I watched this on streaming while holed up with Covid-- glad I did! It's a really cute story and I loved the animation! Definitely underrated, I hope more people discover and get to watch this gem!

Such a great film that explores the curiosity of childhood. It really brought me back to my own curiosity as a child and the adventures it brought me to. A film about acceptance despite differences can be found here as well. The setting and the characters were well fleshed out to create something bright and new in the animated movie landscape. Very fun!
