Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, Disney and Pixar's original feature film "Luca" is a coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides. Luca (voice of Jacob Tremblay) shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, Alberto (voice of Jack Dylan Grazer), but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: they are sea monsters from another world just below the water's surface.

Audience Says

It isn't as creative as Pixar's best movies, but Luca lives up to the studio's standards for beautiful animation while telling a sweet fish-out-of-water story the whole family will enjoy.

Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald It's full of energy and the diligence of those researchers has paid off in its settings which are seductive -- and even more important -- believable. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 30, 2021 Full Review Max Weiss Baltimore Magazine Luca is a sweet, gentle, sun-kissed film, with gentle rhythms and a generous spirit. Rated: 3/4 Jun 25, 2021 Full Review Mark Kermode Kermode & Mayo's Film Review This movie takes joy in the everyday things...wonderful moments. Jun 23, 2021 Full Review Denise Pieniazek Puesta en Escena (AR) In Portorosso its inhabitants are against what they call sea monsters. Conversely, the creatures that live under the sea call humans monsters above. So, that world is divided in two microcosms that show that everything depends on the point of view. Rated: 8.5/10 Aug 16, 2024 Full Review Gautam Sunder The Hindu Director Enrico Casarosa and his team do a magnificent job of bringing small-town Italy to life, interspersed with a coming-of-age fantasy saga. Jul 18, 2024 Full Review Diana Tuova Spotlight on Film The animation is painfully generic and even forgettable since its narrative is almost too insignificant. Marc M I loved the story, the characters, the look, the music and the cool references to Italian cinema in the 50s in "Luca". You don't have to be Italian to love this movie but it doesn't hurt! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/25/21 Full Review MP Great movie, me and my 6 year old had a great time! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/23/21 Full Review Indigo O I watched this on streaming while holed up with Covid-- glad I did! It's a really cute story and I loved the animation! Definitely underrated, I hope more people discover and get to watch this gem! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/21/24 Full Review Allen F Such a great film that explores the curiosity of childhood. It really brought me back to my own curiosity as a child and the adventures it brought me to. A film about acceptance despite differences can be found here as well. The setting and the characters were well fleshed out to create something bright and new in the animated movie landscape. Very fun! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/08/24 Full Review Gareth v The standard of animation here is high, as per usual from Pixar, but what really holds this movie back is it's uninspiring and rather forgettable story. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/02/24 Full Review Godfrey D Its a really good movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/12/24 Full Review Read all reviews
