A sensitive and soulful man earns a living by writing personal letters for other people. Left heartbroken after his marriage ends, Theodore (Joaquin Phoenix) becomes fascinated with a new operating system which reportedly develops into an intuitive and unique entity in its own right. He starts the program and meets "Samantha" (Scarlett Johansson), whose bright voice reveals a sensitive, playful personality. Though "friends" initially, the relationship soon deepens into love.

An extremely beautiful and moving film. It captures so emotionally feelings of love and longing. Theodore is a character that I rarely ever see being portrayed in film like this, a nice, lonely person who wants love but doesn't have the drive or courage to find it, so he sits with himself instead. And to show that kind of character in a romance movie is really something. Her really struck a chord with me.

It is my all time favorite movie and one of the only few I watched three times. It manages to evoke feelings of longing for something that is not yet there, and tells the story of how we are not ready for the best there could be, but still find each other in our flawed humanity.

This movie is so moving. The idea of finding love in such an unusual way, the way the characters grew... I just love how Samantha starts to find herself and the way she saw the world. I especially loved how Scarlett Johansson portrayed the character. It was a wonderful performance. Words can't properly describe how much I love Her. It's one of a kind.
