What to Know

Critics Consensus

Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson memorably smolder together in Babygirl, with writer-director Halina Reijn's clinical gaze keeping this sexually frank thriller more provocative than prurient.

Bill Goodykoontz Arizona Republic What makes “Babygirl” so good is its complexity, not so much in the story but in the performances, which elevate the film. Rated: 4.5/5 Dec 24, 2024 Full Review Maxwell Rabb Chicago Reader This concise, unforgiving film arrives exactly when it’s most needed. At times, it plays mechanically, but it’s undeniably human. Dec 24, 2024 Full Review Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times Banderas is a quiet anchor to the tale, and he has a showcase moment late in the story that reminds us of his screen-rattling power as an actor. Rated: 4/4 Dec 24, 2024 Full Review Jeanine T. Abraham VisAbleBlackwoman (Medium) The trope we are used to in film is that the lived experience of older people is more powerful than the power that young people possess. Babygirl throws that trope on its head Rated: 5/5 Dec 25, 2024 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue ... ultimately more sizzle than substance. And maybe that’s all it was meant to be. Dec 25, 2024 Full Review Elliott Collins Movie Files A thought-provoking film that explores the complexities of human desire, power dynamics, and the tension between societal norms and personal fantasies. Nicole Kidman's performance is outstanding, and the cast delivers absorbing performances throughout. Rated: 4/5 Dec 25, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Betsy S I loved Nicole Kidmans performance. I thought all of the actors were good. I did not love the story but I did find it intriguing. I liked the end & message about power. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/26/24 Full Review First L I want more movies that explores intimate confusion, as well as scenes where someone is passively asked to leave another’s place of work such as with the bar scene. Oh yeah, and more MILF movies! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/26/24 Full Review Carol B Horrible. Soft porn and Nicole has completely degraded herself in this tasteless movie. Gross gross gross. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/26/24 Full Review jmg Oh my God I could not wait for this to end I have no idea why Nicole Kidman agreed to do it, it was so boring it made no sense for example when she finds him in her pool at home and says he can't be there . the next thing you know he's in the house talking to her and Antonio Banderas catches that made no sense I hated it. No one should be nominated. I could not wait for it to be over Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/26/24 Full Review Robert T Not what I expected. Somewhat confusing. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/26/24 Full Review Ann Very disjointed movie. So many questions were not answered. Don’t waste your money. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/26/24 Full Review Read all reviews
