It’s 1977 in Detroit, Michigan, and Dolly Parton stands next to her tour bus — adorned with butterfly artwork and thick, deep-red lines — for a pre-show photo. Decades later, the portrait is now one of several rare archival images featured in the latest collection from artwork shop Sonic Editions, just in time to celebrate the iconic artist’s upcoming 79th birthday.
Now available to shop online, Sonic Editions’ new Dolly Parton photo collection includes several different images that span Parton‘s storied career. The new drop of prints includes black-and-white, behind-the-scenes moments of Parton on photoshoots, a David Gahr portrait from 1977, and a group shot of the legendary songwriter with her 9 to 5 costars Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda, snapped by Robin Platzer back in 1981, the year after the comedic classic’s theatrical release.
Prices for the Dolly Parton prints on Sonic Editions start at $89 and come in a variety of sizes, including small, 14 x 11-inch prints and larger, gallery wall-worthy selects. Sonic Editions offers the prints on their own, or fans can get them framed and mounted for an additional fee — all of which come ready to hang on the wall.
“Happy Birthday to the incomparable Dolly Parton, whose timeless voice and bold, unapologetic style have shaped country music and inspired generations, proving that heart, humor, and resilience can harmonize in ways that transcend genre and fashion,” Russell Blackmore, the founder of Sonic Editions, told Rolling Stone in a statement.
Last year, Rolling Stone named Parton’s “Jolene” as the greatest country song of all time, writing that the track “is Dolly Parton’s pinnacle as a singer, songwriter, and storyteller: the ultimate country heartbreak song. And after 50 years, it’s more iconic than ever.”
2024 saw no shortage of new releases for the country legend too, from new merch to new music and beyond. In September, Parton published a new cookbook, Good Lookin’ Cookin’, alongside her sister, as well as debuted a new Dolly Wine entry with a bottle of Dolly Chardonnay.
Months later, Parton released her guest-packed rock LP Rockstar, and earned the Number Three spot on the Billboard 200 chart in November. Soon after, she dropped Smoky Mountain DNA: Family, Faith and Fables, with her family members. Most recently, Parton announced a casting call for her Dolly: An Original Musical, a new show heading to Broadway in 2026.
