Study on Hydrodynamic response calculate of Semi-Submersible and its application in South China Sea

Published: 14 March 2022 Publication History

Abstract

Recent studies of hydrodynamic performance of Semi-Submersible platform are presented in this paper, which focuses on heav motions, low frequency motions, air gap, vortex induced motions (VIM), parametric optimization and new concept design based on hydrodynamic analysis. The compute of its hydrodynamics analysis by using the 3-D potential theory, API of wind and JONSWAP of wave. The results of RAO (response amplitude operator) curve indicate that the displacement is the greatest when the platform length is about equal to the wavelength, the 2nd-order wave drift force is relatively large by head-sea and following-sea.
