Scalable, Secure Cash Payment for WWW Resources with the PayMe Protocol Set

Published: 11 December 1995 Publication History

Abstract

The use of the WWW as an electronic marketplace is increasing, and there is a need for a cash payment system that is scalable, anonymous, and secure. In this paper we examine two existing systems, Ecash and NetCash, discuss their strengths and weaknesses and propose a new system called the PayMe Transfer Protocol (PMTP). We show how it improves on existing systems and illustrate its use with an example based on purchase of goods across the WWW.
