Raising funds for its 'Let There Be Light!' campaign
January 17, 2024 A pre-loved and vintage clothes sale is to be held at Putney Arts Theatre to raise funds for new lighting at the venue. It needs to replace the expensive specialist tungsten lamps and has set a target of £35,000 for its ‘Let There Be Light!’ campaign to cover the cost of which over £15,000 has already been donated. On Sunday 11 February from 1pm to 4pm at the theatre on Ravenna Road there will be clothes, shoes and accessories on sale, some of which have bever been worn. With most factories producing theatre lighting in the EU having closed down production moved to China but there too output was interrupted during the pandemic. This has meant that remaining stocks of tungsten stage lamps are much in demand driving up prices. Putney Arts Theatre has decided to switch to LED lighting which will consume substantially less energy and have a much longer working life than the old-style bulbs as well as being able to cast light in any colour giving much more scope to offer a wide range of 'looks' to any production.
