Wynonna Judd Pays Tribute to Her Late Friend Lisa Marie Presley

A little over a week after the death of her friend, Judd spoke with Entertainment Tonight about how heartbroken she is over the passing of Lisa Marie. "I was so shocked, and it kicked my butt because she's 54 years old and I'm 58," she said. "And when you go through something like this, it's just bizarre. It's hard to comprehend."

Judd went on to explain why she's not a "thoughts and prayers" person, especially in the wake of her mother's death in 2022. "I'm not one of those people that says, you know, I'm praying for you, or, you know, my prayers and my condolences, because I've been going through it myself," she shared. "And it's so heavy. It's too heavy to talk about it right now. Maybe in some time, when we give it some time for things to settle. I just think, right now, I can't imagine what they're going through."

The country singer continued, "I know what I went through. And when people say stuff like, 'They're in a better place,' I don't want her to be in a better place. I want her to be here with me. That's selfish, but that's human response. So the human response for me is just love the ones you're with. Love the ones you're with. That and forgiveness, forgiveness, forgiveness. That's on my list every single day."

One week after her mother's death, Riley honored Lisa Marie on Instagram by sharing a throwback photo of the two captioned with a red heart emoji.

On Jan. 13, Butler shared a statement with Variety. "My heart is completely shattered for Riley, Finley, Harper and Priscilla at the tragic and unexpected loss of Lisa Marie," he said. "I am eternally grateful for the time I was lucky enough to be near her bright light and will forever cherish the quiet moments we shared. Her warmth, her love and her authenticity will always be remembered."

The "Elvis" director shared a photo of Butler and Lisa Marie on his Instagram on Jan. 13. "Over the last year, the entire Elvis movie family and I have felt the privilege of Lisa Marie's kind embrace," he wrote. "Her sudden, shocking loss has devastated people all around the world. I know her fans everywhere join me in sharing prayers of love and support with her mother, Priscilla, and her wonderful daughters Riley, Finley and Harper."

He concluded his post, "Lisa Marie, we will miss your warmth, your smile, your love."

DeJonge, who played Lisa Marie's mother, Priscilla, in "Elvis" posted a tribute to the late star in her Instagram Story on Jan. 13. "Shattered," she wrote. "Privileged to have felt her magnificent presence. And forever indebted to her, for the kindness and love she showed me, and the entire Elvis family. All of my love to Priscilla, Riley, Harper and Finley."

Country legend Parton sent her condolences to Priscilla while also honoring Lisa Marie in an Instagram post she shared on Jan. 13. The "Jolene" singer wrote, "Priscilla, I know how sad you must be. May God comfort you at this time. Elvis, I know how happy you must be to finally have her home and to have her back with you. Lisa Marie, may you rest in peace. We all love you."

Cage and Presley married in 2002 but separated by the end of the year. Their divorce was finalized in 2004. In a statement about her death, Cage said, "This is devastating news. Lisa had the greatest laugh of anyone I ever met. She lit up every room, and I am heartbroken. I find some solace believing she is reunited with her son Benjamin."

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson shared a joint statement on the latter's Instagram page, writing:

Donatella Versace wrote on Instagram, "I will never forget the times we spent together. Your beauty and your kindness shone so bright. Rest in peace Lisa Marie. We will never forget you." She also shared a photo of Presley modeling a Versace dress.

John Travolta, who was close friends with Presley, wrote on Instagram, "Lisa baby girl, I'm so sorry. I'll miss you but I know I'll see you again. My love and heart goes out to Riley, Priscilla, Harper and Finley."

Presley's longtime friend Leah Remini wrote on Twitter, "I'm heartbroken over the passing of Lisa Marie Presley. Lisa did not have an easy life, as some might think. May she be at peace, resting with her son and father now. Her mom Priscilla and her three daughters, Riley, Finley, and Harper, are in my prayers."

Pink, who featured on a song for Presley's 2005 album "Now What," shared on Instagram, "Oh, this one hurts my heart. Lisa Marie, you were one of a kind. Funny as sh*t, smart as a whip, sensitive, talented, witty, mean, loving, generous, judgmental but always right, loyal, and you adored your children. My heart breaks for you and your beautiful family and your children. The world lost a rare gem today. May your soul rest in peace, friend."

Songwriter Linda Thompson wrote on Instagram, "My heart is too heavy for words . . ." Thompson dated Elvis after his divorce from Priscilla and lived with him and Presley at Graceland.

The Instagram account for the Jackson family shared a photo of Presley with Michael Jackson and wrote, "Condolences to the family and loved ones of Lisa Marie Presley." Presley and Jackson married in early 1994. She filed for divorce in December 1995.

TJ Jackson — Tito Jackson's son and Michael's nephew — wrote on Twitter, "Absolutely heartbreaking to hear about Lisa Marie. She was always so sweet my brothers and me."

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman, who was friends with Presley, wrote on Twitter, "There is heartbreak and then there is sorrow. This would be sorrow and on more levels than I can count. Please send your prayers out for her family and children at this difficult time. I truly cannot find the words to express how sad this truly is."

Actor Jennifer Tilly wrote on Twitter, "So sad about Lisa Marie Presley. Oddly I was just at Graceland yesterday and took this picture," sharing a photo of a cross from the estate.

Octavia Spencer tweeted, "So sad that we've lost another bright star in Lisa Marie Presley. My condolences to her loved ones and multitude of fans."

Bette Midler wrote on Twitter, "Dear God, #LisaMariePresley has died; I'm in shock. So beautiful and only 54 years old; I can't actually comprehend it."

Legendary songwriter Diane Warren wrote on Twitter, "Oh no. This is such horrible news. The entire world is sending love and prayers to Priscilla and Lisa Marie's children right now. May it give you [strength]."

Country music singer Leann Rimes Cibrian wrote on Twitter, "lisa marie presley . . . how heartbreaking. i hope she is at peace in her dad's arms. my heart goes out to her family. too much grief in just a couple of years."

Actor Marlee Matlin wrote, "I had the chance to know @Cilla_Presley when I was on 'Dancing With the Stars' and as a mother, I can't imagine the pain she must be going through with the untimely passing of Lisa Marie. I have the image of little Lisa Marie growing up. RIP Lisa Marie Presley."

Sean Ono Lennon — whose parents are John Lennon and Yoko Ono — tweeted, "Got home late from seeing a show to hear the tragic news about Lisa Marie Presley. I had only met her a few times briefly. But I have to admit I felt a kinship with her. Not many people know what it's like. I know she was a special person. My heart aches for Priscilla."
