The Oak Ridge Boys today released a new music video tribute to the late Joe Bonsall.
Bonsall died July 9 of complications of ALS at the age of 76.
He had not been touring with the group on its farewell tour because of his illness.
The Grammy Award-winning and Country Music Hall of Fame members pay tribute to Bonsall in a new music video for “Promised Land,” from their album “Front Porch Singin’” released in 2021.
Bonsall is the lead singer on the song that starts, “Don’t weep for me when I’m dead and gone. For I’ll just be going home.”
The Oak Ridge Boys includes members William Lee Golden who joined in 1966, Duane Allen who joined in 1966 and Richard Sterban who joined in 1972. Bonsall joined in 1973. He was replaced by Ben James earlier this year when Bonsall retired from the road.
The Oak Ridge Boys will perform on the tour on Friday, Aug. 2, at Keswick Theatre in Glenside, Pa.; and on Friday, Sept. 6, at The Palace Theatre in Greensburg.
