The country music world is praying for Lauren Alaina after she announced on social media this week that her father, J.J. Suddeth, has died.

“We lost my daddy last night, and I really don’t have words yet,” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “I want to let y’all know that I’m not able to play the three shows I had scheduled for this weekend in Savannah, Virginia Beach, and Charlotte as I am going home to be with my family. Thank you for your prayers and understanding. Pinky.”

Fans and followers were quick to respond with prayers and love.

“Our hearts go out to you!” COWGIRL Magazine responded.

“Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry for your loss,” another person wrote. “You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.”

There were plenty more comments like that on the post.

People Magazine reported that “The American Idol” alum and her father were close and that he attended many of her concerts. It noted that, just a month ago, the 29-year-old shared a heartfelt Father’s Day message to Instagram.

People Magazine also reported that her stepfather, Sam Ramker, previously died of cancer.
