Country music legend Billy Ray Cyrus and his estranged wife, Firerose, have been battling it out through one heck of an ugly divorce and that continued this week.

The latest round … well, it is a pretty brutal look for Cyrus.

According to multiple reports, audio obtained of an argument between Cyrus and Firerose reveals the singer berating his wife over being late for a show. FOX News reported that Cyrus admitted that it was him in the audio.

“Hell yeah I was at my wit’s end,” he told the site in a statement. “As every day went by, I started realizing something was wrong. And that’s before I knew she was a fraud. I just knew something wasn’t right. That was before I knew she was David Hodges ex-wife. That’s before I knew her parents last name. I had no idea she was arrested for felony residential burglary. I saw before my very own eyes, everything I thought I knew about her, was a lie. She was trying to take over my career, my life and usurp the Cyrus name for her own gain.”

FOX said Cyrus ended the statement by writing, “See you in court.”

FOX reported that the audio — you can see the site’s story and transcript here — revealed Cyrus calling Firerose an “idiot,” while cursing and screaming because they were late for a “presumed gig” of his.

The site said that at one point Cyrus can be heard saying, “And this ain’t about your BRCA (gene). This ain’t about your surgery. This ain’t about nothing. This is about you being a(expletive) selfish (expletive). I don’t think you’re real smart. I’ve changed my damn mind on that (expletive.) What you are is a selfish (expletive, expletive).”

The site described Cyrus as “yelling.”

FOX said that a source did claim that the audio was edited and that it is actually taken from a series of conversations.

This comes just more than a month after Cyrus was granted an emergency order which stops Firerose from using his credit cards. The ruling was made in a Tennessee court where this is all taking place.

PEOPLE Magazine reported that the judge in the case ruled that there was “no legitimate reason” for Firerose to have access to Cyrus’ cards. The site said she is “restrained from using them effective immediately.”

People previously reported that Cyrus claimed that Firerose ran up $96,986 in unauthorized charges on his business account. The site reported that Cyrus claims $70,665 of that went to payments for her lawyers. Cyrus claimed that the charges made him concerned that she may make other “fraudulent, unauthorized charges to my business and personal credit cards and accounts.”

When he filed for divorce, Cyrus listed “irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct” as his reason, per People. The couple was reportedly married for just seven months.

Through her attorneys, Firerose has denied that she made any fraudulent charges, according to People.

“Throughout the divorce proceedings, the parties are to live as per the status quo during the marriage,” her lawyers reportedly argued. “Wife was simply living as she has since October 10, 2023, and Husband has no right to cut her off.”

People did report that Cyrus and Firerose did agree when he filed for divorce that she would move out of his home immediately, and that he would provide financial support for her “for 90 days or until the dissolution of the marriage, whichever comes first.”

PEOPLE reported that the judge also ordered the two to exchange income and expense statements by July 11 and engage in “good faith mediation” by Aug. 31.

The argument over money hasn’t been the couple’s only issue throughout the process.

They have accused each other of abuse, and recently Firerose called Cyrus “an evil man” in a recent interview.

The 37-year-old also claimed that the 62-year-old Cyrus had “strict rules” for her during their brief, seven-month, marriage.

“I didn’t have a car,” she told Page Six. “I was only allowed to go to the local chiropractor and allowed once a month to get my nails done … it was systematic isolation, and I couldn’t find the courage to leave.”

She also claimed that she had to ask Cyrus for permission to send text messages and emails.

Cyrus responded to other accusations of abuse from Firerose by claiming that she, in fact, was abusive to him.

He denied her claims of “extreme abuse” while reportedly admitting that he was “certainly vocal, frustrated and angry.” However, in court filings, he reportedly claimed that “it is the Plaintiff who, in fact, has been abused.”

He also reportedly countered Firerose’s claims of abuse by arguing that if true it would be “mindboggling to try and explain why, upon vacating (Billy Ray’s) premarital residence, (Firerose) would leave (Billy Ray) a handwritten note and then send him a text message stating in her word, ‘I am sorry’ and ‘please give me a chance to make this right. I can explain everything but I need you on my side.’”

Firerose, again, has denied the claims.

According to People Magazine, Firerose claims that Cyrus filed for divorce last month just a day before she was set to have a preventative double mastectomy. The site said she made the filing in Tennessee on June 14.

People said she discovered she had the BRCA1 gene mutation which gave her an increased chance of getting breast cancer, and in March doctors “highly recommended” she have the procedure done to prevent that from happening.

But she reportedly said in her filing that “chaos” ensued at home as her surgery date grew near and that Cyrus “continually launched verbal attacks” against her.
