Third in the Burg at the Susquehanna Art Museum
Friday 6 to 9 p.m., Susquehanna Art Museum, 1401 N 3rd St, Harrisburg. Each third Friday of the month, the Susquehanna Art Museum is open free for 3rd in the Burg.

MidAtlantic Fiber Association, A Kaleidoscope of Possibilities

The Mid-Atlantic region’s premier fiber art workshop weekend is hosted biennially by the MidAtlantic Fiber Association (MAFA), a nonprofit volunteer organization. Spend the day in the Marketplace with 30 vendors, a Fashion Showcase, mini-seminars, and knit- and spin-ins. For an in depth learning experience in weaving, spinning, dyeing, felting, and/or other fiber-related arts, register for a workshop online.

Greater Harrisburg Concert Band begins 34th season

The theme of this summer's concert series is "Harmony, High Notes, and Humidity." The band is led by music director/conductor Dr. William Stowman -- chair of the music department at Messiah College where he teaches trumpet and conducts the jazz and trumpet ensembles.

Stop in to experience a photography exhibit featuring the work of local student artists. This show is displayed at The Library in partnership with Jump Street and the Boys and Girls Club
Students were led by photographer Charlie Smith in building their own camera from a kit and then using these cameras to capture the cycle of water and river life in Harrisburg. This residency blended science, engineering, biology, storytelling and the arts, resulting in some impressive shots of our riverfront.

HYP City Island Clean Up

Harrisburg Young Professionals City Beautification will partner with Harristown Development Corporation and its International House program to clean up and beautify a rest area on City Island. Weeds will be removed and replaced with flowers and mulch. Volunteers will also, sand and repaint park benches. A simple breakfast will be provided with snacks and water available through the event. Hand tools and other garden gear will be provided.

Features games and crafts for kids, and activities and workshops where families can learn the skills needed to enjoy outdoor adventures together. Families can learn the basics of camping, fishing, shooting and archery. Other workshops include hiking and backpacking, water safety for boating and kayaking, and learning about animals in the wild. All workshops are approximately 20 minutes in length and kids will get a free lanyard and then earn a free, collectible pin for every workshop completed.
