Just days before his tragic passing, Liam Payne addressed recent whispers about his personal life. The former One Direction star was enjoying a holiday in Buenos Aires with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy when he tragically fell from the third floor of their hotel. Liam shot to fame in 2011 as part of the mega-band formed on The X Factor by Simon Cowell alongside Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan.

Reports are suggesting that Liam fell from the third floor of a hotel building in the Argentinian capital. Emergency services including police, firefighters and ambulances were spotted outside the hotel following the tragic incident.

It's been reported that police were called to the scene due to reports of a man behaving aggressively at the hotel. A body was discovered in an internal patio of the hotel, leading to the call to the police by the hotel manager. It's believed that Liam fell from a height of around 13 or 14 metres, resulting in "very serious injuries incompatible with life," reports the Mirror.

In a heartbreaking statement, the local ambulance manager shared with TN: "At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel.

"At 17.11 a SAME team arrived and verified the death of this man and later we found out that he was a singer in a musical group. Unfortunately, he had injuries that were incompatible with life, as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation."

Fans are mourning the loss of a beloved musician who had been delighting followers on TikTok and Snapchat with snaps of his adventures with girlfriend Kate Cassidy. The musician, who turned 31 this year, had been jet-setting around the world and dropping hints of new music.

Liam's last release, Teardrops, failed to chart but it was expected to be on his next album, which he recently teased fans about. While keeping busy in the studio, Liam had recently been caught up in a whirlwind of online chatter about his personal life.

The star was spotted over the summer looking cosy with his Argentinian mate Roger Nores as they left a bar, causing an online fan frenzy about their closeness. Despite local media whispers of a romance, the friendship is nothing but platonic.

The Polaroid singer set the record straight, saying: "There was a lot of things in magazines saying me and Roger are gay together not true, unfortunately." He playfully added: "Although, if I was, I might go for him, who knows."

He clarified further with a cheeky comment, "But I'm not, so I won't and he's not so I know he won't, either. That clears that up!"

Just weeks before his death, Liam had fans all excited again as he revealed he was off to fellow former One Direction star Niall Horan's gig in Argentina, drawing parallels to when Harry Styles showed up at one of Niall's Manchester shows. Videos circulated of the singer dancing at Niall's gig.

Announcing he was going to Argentina to see Niall, Liam said: "We're going to Argentina to see Nialler," He elaborated: "We're going to Argentina. One, because we have to, and two, because we want to, and three, because Niall Horan's playing down there and I think we might just go and say 'Hello'. It's been a while since me and Niall have spoken. We've got a lot to talk about and I would like to square up a couple things with the boy. No bad vibes or nothing like that, but just, we need to talk."

One Direction fans took to social media at the time of the reunion, as one penned: "Liam is going to see Niall in Argentina, first Narry and now Niam on tour, always warms my heart when the boys support each other," while another said: "Liam will be at Niall's show tomorrow! ! Niam reunion!!"
